OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
The distinguishing feature of our music ensembles, is the large emphasis on student leadership. Nearly all performances are conducted and led by the students themselves and all students develop their musical leadership skills, through conducting and facilitating the leading of rehearsals and sectionals. Many students are involved in the organisation of and planning of rehearsals, developing high level directing and organisational skills.
Students have the opportunity to take risks by trying something new and develop skills such as commitment, passion, confidence and innovation. Involvement in these activities nurture and shape both the musical and personal growth of individuals, providing early experience in emotional and social intelligence, required for prestigious university places and the competitive professional business.
