Marc has an MTESOL (Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), a BA (English) from The University of Canterbury and a GDipTchg (Primary) from Victoria University of Wellington. Prior to joining NLCS, Marc was an English language teacher at Hagley College in his hometown of Christchurch, New Zealand. He values the holistic nature of NLCS Jeju’s education and enjoys learning collaboratively with students to help them achieve their potential and foster a love for learning. Marc’s interests include rugby, cricket, music and trying new food. Marc lives in Jeju with his wife, young daughter and dog and enjoys exploring the island together.

Adam is originally from the town of Goderich, Ontario in Canada. He has an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University, and a Masters of Education from the University of Western Ontario. Adam has taught science in Canadian, American, and British schools in Korea, Malaysia, and China. He is very excited to join NLCS Jeju on the beautiful island of Jeju. He believes in the power of questions that provide his students with the skills to develop their own scientific questions and investigate them. He hopes to use the beautiful ecology and landscapes of Jeju to foster a deep and inquisitive love of science in his students.

Devin Watkins graduated from York University in Toronto, Canada with a BA (Hons) in English and Creative Writing. He then went on to teach English at primary and middle schools in both Japan and Korea. He also taught English literature at secondary schools in the UK after acquiring his teaching certification from the University of Brighton. Devin loves teaching and his enthusiasm shines through in his lessons and in his strong, positive relationships with his students. He came to Jeju with his Korean wife and his son who also attends the Junior School in addition to his successful career as a fashion model. Devin enjoys DJing electronic music, running tabletop roleplaying games, hiking in beautiful nature, reading good books, discussing poetry and learning martial arts.

Jiyoung is a British-Korean who has been educated in the UK since primary school. She attended The Purcell School, a world-renowned music specialist school, and later earned her BMus (Hons) at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, studying harp, where she received a full scholarship throughout her education. Jiyoung has won numerous international competitions and has performed for Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace. She was also invited to perform to celebrate King Charles's 60th birthday. She began her teaching career as a music teacher at a secondary school in London, where the music department received an award from the local council for being the best in the borough. After having her two children, Jiyoung became intrigued by how young children learn, which led her to start teaching music to primary school children. She enjoyed teaching young children so much that she decided to further her career by becoming a class teacher. She completed her PGCE in Primary Education at St Mary's University in London. Before coming to NLCS Jeju, Jiyoung gained experience teaching both Key Stage 1 and 2. She also served as a phonics champion and Head of House at her previous school, which was rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. Jiyoung is passionate about how children learn and is dedicated to ensuring all children succeed in every aspect of their lives. When not teaching, Jiyoung enjoys spending time with her family travelling and continues to enjoy performing the harp. She also sings in a choir and plays the piano.

Kerrie is from the UK and has a BA (joint honors) in French and History. After completing a PGCE in primary education, she taught in the UK for ten years before moving to Jeju in 2011 as a junior school teacher and a house mistress. She recently took a sabbatical year in the UK with her two sons and returns to NLCS Jeju as a junior school music teacher and assistant house mistress. In her free time she loves spending time outdoors.

Kevin gained his B.Sc in Zoology from The University of Glasgow, then went on to achieve his PGCE in Primary Education through Northumbria University. He continued his own professional development obtaining his National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership (NPQSL) from University College London and is currently undertaking his Masters in Educational Leadership and Management through Nottingham University. Kevin has a passion for teaching and learning and places a strong emphasis on the importance of pastoral care and how that underpins children’s ability to be confident learners. Having worked in the UK, Singapore and held a Deputy Head of Pastoral and Safeguarding at Harrow School in Shenzhen, China. Kevin has a wealth of experience in international education. In his own time, Kevin enjoys singing; performing with both the Royal Northern Symphony Chorus in the UK and the Singapore Symphony Chorus. He understands and encourages students to utilise performance as a confidence building strategy. A lover of the outdoors and nature, don’t be surprised if you pass Kevin on an Olle trail or on the shore line at the weekends.

Laura is a dedicated and experienced teacher from the UK. She has a BSc(hons) degree in Sport and Physical Education, along with a PGCE in Primary Education. Additionally, she is a qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), further enhancing her expertise in inclusive education practices. Laura has a wealth of experience teaching students ranging from reception to year 6, and has taken on leadership roles in various subjects including maths, science, physical education, and SEN support, showcasing her well-rounded skill set. Recently, Laura made the exciting move to Jeju with her family, where she is eager to explore the outdoors and all that the vibrant community has to offer, Laura has a passion for sports and adventure, having played hockey at county and regional levels. She is also an avid runner, swimmer, and open water enthusiast, braving even the winter months for a swim. Laura has completed an impressive nine marathons and continues to challenge herself, with aspirations to reach double figures. In addition, she has ventured into triathlons in recent years and looks forward to participating in more events. With her strong educational background, diverse teaching experience, and active lifestyle, Laura Tanna brings a dynamic and passionate approach to both the classroom and her personal pursuits. Her enthusiasm for learning, coupled with her adventurous spirit, make her a valuable asset to NLCS Jeju.

Lisa has a BA (Joint Hons) in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Liverpool and a PGCE (Primary Years) with a specialism in English from the University of Worcester. She is currently completing an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Bath. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Lisa was an Assistant Head at a leading British international school in Qatar, and previously worked in primary schools in the UK, with leadership responsibilities including English Subject Lead. Before becoming a teacher, Lisa enjoyed a career as a journalist with BBC News in London and Cardiff, and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Cardiff. Lisa is moving to Jeju with her husband and is looking forward to exploring the beautiful island and Korean culture.

Mireille has a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary Education) from Wollongong University, Australia, graduating with High Distinction and earning a place on the Dean’s Merit List. Prior to joining the School, Mireille worked in inner-city London. She has over 20 years of teaching experience, fulfilling various roles including: Acting Head Teacher, Deputy Head in charge of Inclusion and Assistant Head leading on Curriculum, Assessment and mentoring newly qualified teachers. Mireille is an avid traveller, having lived in many countries from a young age, including Nigeria, Lebanon, Australia and England. She is thrilled to be moving to Jeju Island, and working at NLCS, and is looking forward to getting back to nature where she will enjoy hiking, cycling and swimming--not to mention travelling to new countries across Asia.

Rumer began her teaching career as a learning assistant at a primary school in London, England. She went on to complete teacher training and was awarded her QTS by UCL. Rumer has been teaching in Korea, first in Jecheon and most recently in Seoul, since 2020. She is greatly excited to inspire, motivate and support students at NLCS Jeju. Outside of the classroom, Rumer enjoys photography, reading and cooking, and she is looking forward to learning more about the unique cultural aspects of Jeju.

Vivienne is from the UK where she qualified as a teacher with a BSc in Mathematics from the University College of St. Martin, Lancaster (now University of Cumbria). After ten years teaching in the UK state system, and a year in Colorado, Vivienne moved to North Carolina for four years to work in a county school that focused on an internationally-minded curriculum. During this time, she earnt a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. Vivienne moved to Jeju in 2014 as a member of the Junior School team and is currently a mathematics specialist teacher with a reputation for attending Star Trek conventions and enjoying the Eurovision Song Contest!

Maggie has a Bachelor’s degree Major in Education from Northeast Normal University. She also received the Certificate of teaching Proficiency of TCSOL from Beijing Language and Culture University. She holds teaching qualifications for both Kindergarten and Junior School. She has more than 15 years of experience teaching in an international setting. Her last post was Head of Primary Mandarin in an outstanding international school in Shanghai. She has a passion for working with children, and loves Chinese traditional culture which she enjoys sharing with her students.Maggie has particular interests in cooking, traveling, music, sports and charity work. She believes in the power of education and often volunteers to conduct teacher training workshops in remote areas during school holiday.

Daniel completed his Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) at Otago University. He has since taught in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, most recently leading the Senior Syndicate at Wellesley College. Daniel is passionate about mathematics and literacy, but has also led school bands and coached rugby. Outside of the classroom, he is a keen runner, a musician and rugby fan.

Peter Evans has been teaching in the Junior School at NLCS Jeju since 2016. He has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Brighton and a BA (Hons) in Media and Popular Culture from Leeds Metropolitan University. Peter has taught children in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and has several years experience in teaching pre-School children in the U.K. He is a trained Forest Schools (outdoor learning) practitioner and runs the NLCS Forest School Bryant programme. He is a keen cyclist, walker and whittler, who thoroughly enjoys living on Jeju with his wife and young daughter, and exploring the many attractions that the island has to offer.

George has an MA Applied Linguistics from the University College London, a BA Popular Music Performance (Hons) from the University of West London and a PGCE Early Years and Primary Education from London Metropolitan University. Prior to joining the School he was Vice Principal at an international school in South Korea. George is an avid reader who also enjoys playing the guitar, as well as hiking and cycling. He lives on Jeju with his wife and two children. He looks forward to inspiring his pupils with a lifelong love of learning.

Akinyi has a Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University Akinyi enjoys music, fitness and the outdoors. She loves living in Jeju because of its beauty and quiet island life. Recently, she has rekindled her love for learning new languages by trying her hand at Korean language. She lives on Jeju with her husband and daughter. "Floors not ceilings" resonates with my personal experience of how a great education opens doors to limitless opportunities.

Lauren has a BSc Geography from the University of Plymouth and a Masters degree in TESOL from Swansea University. After realising her passion for teaching, she obtained a QTS as a Primary Education and ESL teacher. Lauren has taught primary school children in Korea since 2017, most recently teaching Year 1 and Year 3 at a private school in Seoul. She enjoys encouraging and supporting children to become creative, curious, and confident young people. Lauren lives in Jeju with her family and is excited to get outdoors and experience all Jeju has to offer. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking and drawing, and spending time with her family.

Laura has a BEd Primary Education from the University of Gloucestershire, whilst studying for her degree she also taught English at a summer camp in Spain. Laura is from the Isle of Wight, UK, which is where she started her teaching career. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju she worked in Busan as an English teacher for three years. Laura enjoys Laura enjoys journaling, reading, K-pop and hiking - she is looking forward to exploring the Olle trails, beaches and beauty of Jeju! "I am looking forward to working at NLCS Jeju and celebrating students' success!"

Tina studied for a BA in Visual communication at the University of Wolverhampton then worked in the software development industry as an artist and animator. In 2007, Tina was awarded her PGCE Primary from York St John University and has worked as an educator ever since. Prior to NLCS, Tina worked at an independent school in Yorkshire for 12 years. During her time there, she taught in Years 2 to 6, led on ICT and Computing and has held various leadership positions such as Deputy Head (Junior School) and, Acting Head (KS2). Most recently, Tina has been Whole School House System Coordinator and Professional Skills Coordinator. Tina will be joined in Jeju by her husband and their pet dog, Bella. They are very much looking forward to exploring the Olle Trails together.

Leela has a Bachelors in English and Journalism from the University of Tasmania and a PGCE from the University of Cumbria. Prior to joining the School, Leela worked at a school in the UK, she started her teaching career 9 years ago as a teaching assistant. Leela enjoys reading, baking and dancing, she also loves travelling to new countries and experiencing their culture. She values the holistic approach to an NLCS Jeju education.

Jaheeda has a BEd Primary Education from the University of Hertfordshire, prior to joining NLCS Jeju she worked in a School in Seoul. Jaheeda greatly enjoys music, reading and learning new languages, and islooking forward to exploring Jeju and learning about the culture and history of the island.

Eunmi Jeong has a Master’s degree in Elementary Education in English and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in Social Studies from Jeju National University. She has been teaching for 15 years in Korean public elementary schools. Before coming to work for NLCS Jeju, she was a Best English Teacher and Science-Information Head Teacher. She also worked as a consultant for young teachers and foreign teachers with Jeju POE. She has won 1st place in a teaching competition for Korean teachers in 2013 and 2017. She has an interest in Korean history, children’s books, and loves to cook Korean food and hope that her interests can be shared with students at NLCS Jeju.

Alexandra has a LLB Law, Human Rights and Social Justice from De Montfort Universtiy. Prior to joining the School, Alexandra taught in the UK and was Head of Computing and Online Safety. Alexandra has a keen interest in crochet and reading. Alongside this, she enjoys hiking, swimming and scuba diving. She enjoys exploring the beauty of Jeju and inspiring her students.

DongKwang Lee comes from Korea and after earning a BEd in elementary education in Seoul National University of Education he went on to gain a Masters degree in Educational Administration from the University of Kyongbuk. DongKwang started his teaching career in the Korean public education system before gaining posts as Head of Science and Year 6 in Gaeil elementary school in Seoul. In 2009 he acquired his 1st level teacher degree and joined NLCS Jeju in 2011 as the Head of Korean department. DongKwang has been married for 19 years and has two children who are students in the Senior School.

Geun Lee has a BA in elementary education from Jeju University. Her teaching qualification is from Jeju University. Before working as an international school teacher, she was public school teacher. Her last post was a teacher of Year 4 and also in charge of cocurricular activities at the Donggwang elementary school of Jeju. As a public school teacher, she has received the Seogwipo-city superintendent of education citation in 2016 and the superintendent of education Jeju commendation in 2017. She loves sports, music, camping and fishing.

Seong-il is from Seoul. He studied and graduated from the Seoul National University of Education. Seong-il received a Masters from the graduate school of Baekseok University after 3 years of study. He started his teaching career in public elementary school in 1999 and worked as head of various academic departments for 7 years. Seong-il began teaching at NLCS Jeju in 2017.

James has a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Studies from the University of Leeds. He has his teaching qualification from Hainault Forest School in North London. James also studied in Maastricht, Holland, at UCM, where he completed a study-abroad qualification in International Relations. He has previously worked as head of Gifted and Talented at the International Community School in Amman, Jordan where he was also a Year 4 teacher. James enjoys running and has taken part in events in Palestine, Amman and London.

Ms. Luo originally comes from China. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from Zhejiang University, China and a Master of Philosophy degree in Environment and Development Economics from the University of Oslo, Norway. She also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) With Merit from University of Nottingham, UK. Ms. Luo is passionate about development issues and has worked for three outstanding development organisations: Voluntary Service Overseas UK, IFRC and UNICEF. Ms Luo has worked at NLCS Jeju since 2015. She had taught for 4 years in the Senior school and also served as Chinese Community Coordinator from 2015 to 2019. Now she works as a full time Mandarin teacher in Junior school. Ms. Luo is married to Douglas Machin who also teaches at NLCS Jeju. They have three children.

Carolyn Moran is an Early Years trained teacher with a Master's degree in Educational Studies from the University of South Australia. She was also awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Language and a Bachelor's degree from Murdoch University. Having an interest in child development, Carolyn was trained in the effects of movement and environment on early learning by the Institute of Neuro Physiological Psychology, Cambridge. Prior to teaching in Korea, she was an Early Years teacher in Brunei Darussalam, developed bilingual education in the Cocos Keeling Islands and worked as both an Early Years teacher and in an advisory capacity in Western Australia. Carolyn is also a trained and registered Dance teacher with the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance (Com dance). She has two children working in London and Perth and a third at university in Chicago. She enjoys experiencing the culture in Korea and exploring Jeju island.

Aisleen Renshaw has a BSc (Hons) in Education Studies from University of Southampton. Her teaching qualification is from Institute of Education, University College of London, where she specialised in primary mathematics. Before training as a teacher she was a Learning Support Assistant at Botley Primary School (Southampton, England) and supported Year 6 children in preparation for their end of Key Stage 2 examinations. Her last post was at ARK Globe Academy (London, England) where she taught as a Year 1 and Year 4 teacher. In her spare time, Aisleen enjoys dancing and participated in three showcases in London. She enjoys living in Jeju and is exploring the beautiful spots across the island and trying local cuisine.

Mr Roden has an MEnvSci in Environmental Science from the University of Bangor and a PGCE from the University of Buckingham. He has worked in a number of independent and state schools in the UK as an Assistant Housemaster and Head of House. He joined NLCS Jeju in 2019 as an Assistant Boarding Master and has taught KS3, IGCSE, and IB Geography throughout. He lives on Jeju with his wife and son and enjoys exploring the fantastic landscape the island has to offer.

Dave completed his PGCE in primary education at the University of Hull and has lived and taught at NLCS Jeju since 2011 when the school first opened. He was originally a Y4 teacher and the maths coordinator for the Junior School before teaching Year 2 students. Dave then followed his passion and became Head of Computer Science. Prior to working in South Korea, he worked as a Y6 & Y3 teacher and coordinated PE in a state school in the UK. Dave is married with a young daughter and whenever he finds any spare time he likes to cycle, play tennis and paddle-board.

Grace Son is from Korea and graduated with a BA in Early Childhood Education and English Literature. She had completed with an MA in English Education and Korean Language at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. She has more than 20 years of experience as a school teacher. Since January 2013, she has been a KSL teacher at NLCS Junior School.

Thomas has a Multimedia, Technology and Design degree from the University of Kent and a PGCE from the University of East Anglia. Thomas has over six years of teaching experience post PGCE. He taught at a rural primary school on the North Norfolk coast for three years but most recently Thomas worked at one of the top bi-lingual schools in Shanghai for three years where he held the position of Education Technology and Innovation Leader. Prior to that, he worked in Korea as a CELTA qualified English Instructor for almost six years. Thomas is looking forward to joining NLCS Jeju because of the community, outstanding facilities and natural surroundings.

Michelle is from South Africa. She has a Bachelor of Primary Education degree and has many years experience as a class teacher in Grades 1-3, as well as an Art Teacher teaching children from Grades 1-7. She has also led the Foundation Phase and Art Departments as Head of Department in schools where she has taught in her home town of Port Elizabeth. Michelle has a passion for reading, travel, art and all things creative and loves to use these passions to instil a love of learning in her young students. She is passionate about creating student-friendly, engaging activities and resources for use within her classroom. Michelle and her family enjoys many long walks and exploring the island and to experiencing the wonderful culture of South Korea.

Lawrence graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and continued his studies with a Postgraduate Degree in teaching from the University of Hull. In the UK, Lawrence taught in Newcastle Upon Tyne as part of the NEAT Academy Trust, gaining experience in all Key Stages, from Early Years to Upper Key Stage 2, and holding roles such as P.E lead, STEM coordinator and council representative for the Trust. After moving to Malaysia, Lawrence worked as an Early Years Coordinator and then Year 3 lead Teacher at an International school in Kuala Lumpur. Lawrence is delighted to return to South Korea, and especially Jeju-do, where he is looking forward to raising his young family on the island, rediscovering his passion for the amazing food and culture that South Korea is so famous for.

Melissa is from the U.S. and majored in Foreign Languages (Korean). She also holds a PGCEi from Nottingham University. She has been at NLCS Jeju since 2016 working in both Nursery and Reception. During her time here at NLCS she has also worked together with the Junior School Korean language department and taught KSL in KS1 and KS2. The unique environment of NLCS Jeju has given Melissa the opportunity to combine her passion for Early Years with her love of Korean language and culture.

After graduating in French Literature and then in English Literature and Civilisation, François completed a Master’s in Education and a PGCE in French. He worked as a French and Spanish teacher for four years in Twickenham in the UK and he then embarked on an international career that took him to Mexico, Uzbekistan and Turkey. Passionate about education, he had the opportunity to occupy various positions related to curriculum and pastoral development in his previous schools and he always strives to find better ways to make his students happy and successful learners. In his free time he likes to explore and play outside, and if he is not at home reading a book with his cats, he is most likely running, cycling or climbing somewhere around the island.

Shilen is from Bristol in the UK and has gained his NPQH (National Professional Qualification in Headship) from the Department of Education, BA Hons in the Arts from Cardiff and his PGCE from the University of Bristol. Shilen has led large departments, faculties and as a senior leader, whole school initiatives both in the UK and internationally, specifically focusing on evidence-driven Teaching & Learning. As a Visual Arts & Technology specialist, Shilen is guided by the philosophy that ‘learning is a continual process’ and he looks to endorse that approach with the young people at NLCS Jeju. Shilen is also a former England international hockey player and has been fortunate to compete at the highest levels, gaining several domestic and international honours. Looking to promote this holistic life balance, he is keen to share his experiences and support all students to realise their aspirations both in and outside of the classroom. Shilen lives in Jeju with his wife and three children and is looking forward to continuing exploring Jeju, Korea and the wider region.

Anna has a bachelor's degree in Health Policy and Management / Business Administration from Korea University and a master's degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Southern California. Prior to NLCS Jeju, she taught IB English Language & Literature at another international school in Incheon, Korea. She was born in the Netherlands and attended eleven schools in Canada, Germany, and Korea as a student. She loves teaching and learning, playing tennis, eating delicious food, making diverse friendships, and being with family.

Steve grew up in England and has been teaching for over 30 years. He was awarded a B.Sc. (Hons.) from the University of Leeds. After a few years working for the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, he returned to Leeds to train as a teacher. He remained in Leeds for ten years, teaching in state schools, before moving into international education in 2002. He has taught in England, Russia, Germany, Scotland and Kazakhstan. While in Russia, he worked as a Head of Department, Head of Key Stage 4 and Examinations Officer, but is now happy to focus his energy into delivering engaging Biology lessons. He has many years of experience, teaching both Cambridge and International Baccalaureate courses and has worked as an Assistant Examiner for the International Baccalaureate since 2006. He is very excited about joining NLCS Jeju and it’s “floors not ceilings” approach to education. He is very keen to explore the island of Jeju and experience Korean culture.

Catherine did her BSc (Hons) at the University of Kent in Cellular and Molecular Biology, started her teaching career at Sheffield Hallam University, where she was awarded a PGCE with QTS in secondary science and completed her MSc at the Univerity of Bristol in the Psychology of Education. She taught in a variety of different schools in the UK, including selective and single-sex settings, for 8 years before moving to Indonesia, where she taught in 2 different international schools. She is accompanied to Jeju by her husband and 2 children. In her spare time she enjoys travel, trying different foods and BTS! She believes education is more than academic qualifications and is looking forward to getting to know students outside of the classroom.

Steven graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2009 gaining a BSc in Physical Geography, and from Manchester Met Uni in 2010 attaining his PGCE. After a short stint working in Australia as a Graduate Geologist in 2012, his passion for travel and working abroad was ignited. He embarked upon teaching internationally, first in Izmir, Turkey followed by Trinidad in the Caribbean as well as spending some time in Seville, Spain and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. For the past two years he has been working across two campuses at a British School in Warsaw, Poland. He is looking forward to stepping up as head of the Geography department at NLCS Jeju and building fruitful relationships with new colleagues and students. In his spare time, Steve enjoys hiking and has recently completed a self planned 272 mile hike over 15 days raising money for the Ukraine Charity. He is looking forward to exploring the Olle Trails across Jeju’s amazingly diverse volcanic landscape.

Christopher was born and raised in Southern California in the United States. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine and eventually went on to complete an MBA from California State University, Long Beach. He has over 7 years of university admissions counseling and advising experience through his time as an Undergraduate Admissions Evaluator at the University of California, Irvine and an Admissions Representative at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He takes pride in seeing the students he’s worked with matriculate into university and he hopes to use his expertise to continue helping students achieve their educational goals.

Vanya, with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology and Counseling from the Philippines, has excelled as an IB educator for over a decade across esteemed international schools in the Philippines, China, and Singapore. Transitioning seamlessly between roles in academia, from university advising to academic and pastoral leadership, she has demonstrated remarkable versatility and leadership. Now, as a seasoned Psychology and Theory of Knowledge teacher, Vanya eagerly anticipates bringing her wealth of experience to NLCS Jeju, driven by her passion to enrich students' educational journeys and foster their holistic development. Gülçin is from Turkey. She completed her BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry Education at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey and ranked first in the department. She has been teaching Chemistry for eight years and has taught IBDP and AP (Advanced Placement) Chemistry courses at American Collegiate Institute and Robert College in Turkey. She is passionate about nurturing students’ minds to grasp the connection between science and their daily lives. She enjoys reading books and science magazines and sharing interesting scientific facts with those around her. She will be living in Jeju with her husband, Utku and they have a Golden Retriever dog, Kaju."

Hyun-Mi is an Australian-Korean who has been educated in Sydney since High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Education from Macquarie University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Sydney. Hyun-Mi has been teaching for 12 years in Sydney, the first 6 years at an all-girls private school where she later worked as a second in the Mathematics Department and the next 6 years at an all-boys private school where she worked later as an IBDP Mathematics coordinator. NLCS Jeju is her first international post and she is very excited to contribute and grow in the dedicated, caring and respectful community. Outside of teaching, Hyun-Mi enjoys watching football, musicals and movies and travelling to different countries.

Hwayoung is a Korean Language and Literature teacher with a degree from Korea University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Education. She has over 15 years of teaching experience in international schools both in Korea and the UK. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role. In addition to her extensive teaching experience, she is an IB Examiner and Assessment Content Developer and has proactively shared her IB expertise as an adjunct professor for the International Baccalaureate Educator Certificate (IBEC) programme. Hwayoung is very excited to be embarking on her new journey at NLCS Jeju, where she is looking forward to making positive contributions to the academic growth and development of her students.

James is from South London, where he spent most of his childhood playing and watching football. After graduating in French Studies from Nottingham University, he became an English Teacher in order to be able to travel the world. Since then he has worked in Slovakia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mexico, Mainland China and Uzbekistan, and he and his family are very excited to come to Jeju and experience its beautiful nature.

John has been teaching IBDP Economics and Business for 18 years at the United World College of Hong Kong before moving to YWIES Yantai in Shandong where he taught A levels and IGCSE. John has a Post Graduate Diploma in Economics from the London School of Economics. He also has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration as well as a BA Honours Degree in Business and Finance. Having completed his PGCE, teacher training in the UK, he has Qualified Teacher Status. John says, “I hope to enlighten students into how Economics can make their lives better.”

Maria has eight years of education experience in the UK. She holds a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from St Mary's University in London and a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources from the University of Salamanca, Spain. Maria began her teaching career at St George's Weybridge, near London, where she lived for 10 years, refining her skills in creating supportive and engaging learning environments. She then taught at Ryde School with Upper Chine on the Isle of Wight, instructing students from Year 6 to Year 13, including IGCSE and IB curricula, and developing programs for diverse learning styles. Maria is pursuing a Master's in Global Learning at University College London, enhancing her understanding of global education systems, intercultural communication, sustainable development, and global citizenship education. This knowledge helps her foster a global perspective among students. Additionally, Maria has served as a boarding tutor and Head of House, promoting inclusivity and organizing charity events, which honed her skills in pastoral care and community engagement. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking and curiosity, using varied methods to engage students and uphold high standards. Maria is eager to contribute to the dynamic environment at NLCS Jeju.

Nuryoldaş graduated from AIBU with a degree in Mathematics. She was the highest-ranking student in her department. She earned a Master's degree in Math Teacher Education from Bilkent University and participated in a teaching internship program at Iowa State University, USA. She has carried all her memories and experiences with her through her 18-year career teaching math to senior school students. Nuryoldaş wants to share and build on her extensive knowledge and experience internationally. She is confident that her abilities and passion will make her a positive and valuable addition to the NLCS, Jeju. Nuryoldaş lives in Jeju with her husband, İlhan, their two daughters, Irmak and Miray, and their dog, Miço. They are enthusiastic about embarking on new adventures and journeys. The opportunity to experience and immerse herself in a new culture, particularly Korean culture, excites her immensely. In her free time, she loves cooking and enjoys spending time with her family.

With a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's in International Chinese Education from HKU, Qingyang brings a wealth of expertise and a global perspective to her role. Qingyang has taught IBDP BHL, BSL, IGCSE first and second language courses. She has also developed the school curriculum for MYP Language & Literature. For the past 5 years, she has captivated students aged 7-13 through her engaging Chinese lessons at Sha Tin College. However, Qingyang's passions extend far beyond the classroom - she is an avid explorer of the great outdoors, with a particular fondness for conquering the slopes on her skis (albeit with somewhat questionable technique), traversing scenic hiking trails, and immersing herself in the underwater world through scuba diving (though she admits it's been a while since her last dive). Qingyang is thrilled to embark on a new journey at NLCS Jeju. With her infectious energy and passion for adventure, she is poised to inspire a new generation of students to embrace the wonder and excitement of the Chinese language.

Penny is from South Africa, and has 14 years of experience teaching both nationally and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History and Anthropology with Honours, as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Penny has taught History, English and Visual Art, and has worked as a department head in two of her previous schools. She has been an IB examiner for two years and enjoys supervising Extended Essays. Penny believes in inquiry based learning and promoting a positive learning environment in which various learning needs are catered for. She enjoys travel, Art, cooking, walking and spending time with her boys.

Dauren has a BSc and MSc Mathematics from Novosibirsk State University. Prior to joining the School he worked as a Teacher of Mathematics and Olympiad Specialist in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Dauren enjoys nature and physical activities. He looks forward to cycling and hiking on Jeju Island. They enjoy sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for Mathematics to help pupils develop their own talent in Mathematics.

Merve is originally from Izmir, Turkey. She is a graduate of Integrated BS and MS Program in Teaching Mathematics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. Before completing her masters, she attended Fontys University of Applied Sciences for a fall term (via Erasmus program) at 2010. She had one of her internships in Breda, Netherlands. Currently, she is doing her masters in Statistics at Ege University, Izmir, Turkey. Merve has been teaching mathematics for the last 10 years. Her favorite topics are Statistics and Probability. After attending a CAT2 training program in Berlin, 2018 and getting an IB certificate, she has also become an IB examiner. Working with people from different cultures and a variety of countries always makes Merve feel good because she thinks that mathematics is also a language to communicate with people. Merve is looking forward to joining NLCS because she likes working with competitive groups and having students with high academic expectations.

Sunghyun is from mainland Korea. After earning a BEd in history education from Seoul National University, he worked in Korean local high schools as a history teacher and was a 12th grade tutor for 10 years. He joined NLCS Jeju in 2011 as a Korean history teacher and he now works as university guidance counselor, specialising in supporting applications to Korean Universities.

Mrs Baird has a MA (Oxon) in Classics (Literae Humaniores) from St. Anne’s College, Oxford University. She represented the university in rowing whilst there. Her teaching qualification (PGCE) is from King’s College, London University. She has been teaching since 1989 mainly in the UK and last taught abroad from 1992 to 1994 in Kenya. She enjoys travelling and is excited about exploring a part of the world that she has not yet experienced. Her last teaching position was as Head of Classics at Malvern St James School. She enjoys walking in the Malvern Hills and in Jeju too. She also likes going to the theatre and art galleries and practices Tai Chi. She has three grown up children.

Ruth has an MA in Education from the University of Bath, a PGCE SCITT in Ed from the University of Nottingham and a BMus Hons from the University of Birmingham. Prior to joining the School she taught in Thailand. Ruth is a qualified Yoga teacher and enjoys sharing practise with people of all ages and abilities as well as dabbling in Art. She loves living in Jeju because of the stunning scenery and outdoor adventure possibilities. Ruth has a keen interest in note-taking and is thrilled to have co-authored an award winning article featuring sketchnotes for the 2022 ACM Creativity and Cognition Conference. She lives on Jeju with her husband and dog. Ruth believes that the students explore all areas of Music at NLCS Jeju with access to great physical and technological resources, and feels it is a privilege to be part of their musical journeys.

Gary has an MSc Earth Science and the Environment and a BSc (Hons) in Geology, both from Kingston University, and a PGCE from Newcastle University. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Gary worked at a school in Busan. Gary worked as a Geologist in the Geology Department at Kingston Univeristy before training to become a teacher. He has taught Geography and Humanities in the UK, Isle of Man, Kuwait, Portugal and South Korea. Gary enjoys art, cinema and cycling and loves living on the beautiful island of Jeju. He has a keen interest in the birdlife of the island because of his previous experience as a nature reserve warden.

Alice has a PGCE in Secondary English and a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford. She has research interests in nineteenth-century literature and the history of the book. Originally from the East of England, she was based at a state school in Oxfordshire prior to this role at NLCS Jeju. Previously, she worked at NLCS Jeju as a Graduate Assistant. She enjoys creative writing, trips to the sea, and discussing John Keats at any given opportunity. She is excited to share her passion for literature as part of the school community and explore more of South Korea's stunning nature and delicious food.

Amanda has an MA in Literature and Culture, 1700-1900 from the University of Sussex and BA (Hons) English Literature from Queen Mary, University of London. She completed her teacher training in the UK, and worked in comprehensive schools in Greater Manchester for 5 years. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, she taught at a British international school in Portugal. Amanda has a passion for nineteenth-century literature, learning new languages and K-pop - she enjoys exploring Jeju and the rest of South Korea! She believes that high academic and extra-curricular standards lead to a developed, well-rounded individual.

Duygu comes from Turkey having 12 years experience teaching mathematics. Holding a full scholarship, she read Mathematics and Computer Science at Cankaya University, then gained her masters degree from Bilkent University, also with a full scholarship. Duygu also gained Fulbright Scholarship and was sent to America to complete an internship program with Education in Maths. She was engaged in educational programs in several places in the States such as Iowa, Washington DC and Chicago and also continued her education at the Iowa States University for a period of time. Duygu worked as a department head in her previous school for two years.

Jay has an MSc Library Science from City, University of London. Prior to joining joining the School Jay was the Librarian at a preparatory school in the UK. Jay has a longstanding interest in film and writing, which they hope to be able to share with others and is excited to be working in a school that values scholarship and places the library at the heart of the school, and to experience a new culture and explore the island.

Monica (Yuanyuan) Cai initially graduated from Capital Normal University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Teaching, after which she gained her Master’s Degree in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Beijing Language and Culture University. She first started teaching at an elementary school in U.S., when she was still a graduate student in BLCU. Upon graduation, she continued her career as a Senior School Mandarin teacher in Dulwich College Beijing, where she gained further experience both in her subject domain and, in the pastoral area as a form tutor. Her most recent positions were Senior School Mandarin Teacher and Day House tutor in Marlborough College Malaysia, where she taught IGCSE and the IB, as well as fully committing to the boarding school system. In her spare time, Monica has a strong interest in fashion. Monica has two lovely cats.

Thom joined NLCS Jeju in 2014. He is from the UK and is here with his wife who is from the US. Previously, he worked in the U.K. state sector for six years teaching Philosophy, Religious Studies, PSHE, and Critical Thinking. He completed his PGCE in Religious Studies at the University of Bristol after being inspired by volunteer teaching placements in India. He studied for a BA in Philosophy at the University of Southampton and completed a further Masters in Philosophy of Mind, also at the University of Southampton.

Julia Cha is currently pursuing a Master's Degree Programme - Mathematics for Teaching at Harvard University Extension School. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Economics) and a Bachelor of Education degrees with Distinction, both from the University of Toronto. After graduating, Julia worked on professional development, thus, receiving an additional teaching qualification in Physics. Prior to NLCS, she has taught multiple subjects at an International School in China; DP Physics, DP Mathematics, and Ontario curriculum Social Sciences courses. She likes creating and investigating many mathematical activities at a stunning island!

Minsoo has spent a significant part of her life living and studying in Australia and New Zealand. In the 14 years that she was there, she obtained a degree in Operations Research and Statistics from the University of Auckland, and a Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Queensland. As a certified teacher from Brisbane, Australia, Minsoo taught Mathematics and Computer Science in Brisbane for 4 years before returning to Korea to teach at NLCS Jeju in 2014. Minsoo is an experienced IB and IGCSE Mathematics teacher who has completed Master of Educational Studies through University of Queensland in 2022. Minsoo is passionate about supporting students with mathematics competitions; and she is South Korea’s official representative of the International Mathematics Modeling Challenge. Outside of the classroom, Minsoo enjoys travelling and spending time with family.

Nicholas is from York in the UK but has lived in Asia for many years. He has a Korean wife and a son in Year 2 at NLCS Jeju. Having first fallen in love with Jeju island in 2001, he is very happy to now call it home. Nicholas has a Geography degree, a Masters in Linguistics, a PGCE and a Diploma in Special Education. Second language pedagogy and the acquisition of academic English has been the main focus of his teaching career. Nicholas has traveled extensively around the world and is a strong believer in outdoor education, trips and extra-curricular programmes. Nicholas plays football and tennis and is a keen mountain biker.

Victor is from the United States. He has worked in university guidance counselling for 11 years. Victor graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Communications (Journalism). He is married and has a son in the Junior School, and a baby boy.

Laetitia is from France. As a young child she has lived Belgium, Holland, Korea and then moved to France where she completed her studies and obtained a BA degree in English studies. After working as a language assistant near Plymouth, she enrolled into a Postgraduate Certificate in Education course in French and German. Laetitia worked in a Catholic school in Cambridgeshire before deciding to move abroad. Since 2013, she has worked at NLCS Jeju. As a life-long learner, she has continued to take on different academic challenges, including widening her specialism in the IB Diploma by gaining knowledge and experience of the programme. True to her belief in holistic education, she has always contributed to a wide range of extracurricular activities that include sporting activities and competitions.

Yong-Jun Chun has a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from LeTourneau University, TX and a Masters in Mathematics for Teachers from the University of Waterloo in Canada. He is a Clear Credentialed teacher in the state of California. Before training to be a mathematics teacher, he previously worked in the biomedical industry as a sales engineer. His last post was at Gyeonggi Suwon International School where he was a maths teacher and also the Head of Mathematics. Having grown up in Korea, Nigeria, the UK and the US, Yong-Jun was a third-culture child and has a love for international travel and experiencing new cultures. In his free time, he enjoys being a nerd, watching martial arts and spending time with his family.

Alastair has a PGCE from UNISA in English and Theatre and has over 14 years experience working in English and Theatre. Alastair most recently taught at UWCEA in the English, the Arts and the ToK departments. He enjoys spending time with his wife and son, running, fishing and reading philosophy. Alastair is excited about joining NLCS Jeju as it represents a high standard of eduction in a fascinating region of the world.

Shayna has a HDE and a BSc Biochemistry, both from Rhodes University. Shayna enjoys learning about new cultures and the best way to know a place and it's people is to live there. She enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle and Jeju climate is perfect for walks and wonderful sunsets. She lives in Jeju with her husband, son and dog, stating that "On the toughest days the pupils always manage to make me smile".

Rowan is from Montana, USA and has a BA in English Literature and Teaching from the University of Montana. Rowan enjoys sport, hiking, and attending the various musical performances at NLCS Jeju throughout the year.

Sebastien is French by nationality but lived in the UK for several years. He graduated from Greenwich University with a B.Ed and completed his IPGCE from Buckingham University. He taught for several years in different inner London schools and for 7 years in Cyprus before moving to NLCS Jeju with his family in 2014. He has been a Head of Year, Head of House and Head of Department in his previous schools. At NLCS Jeju, Sebastien is the House Master for Jeoji house, a PE teacher and is the head coach for the Middle School Rugby team with whom he has won the National Championship. Sebastien has played competitive table tennis and rugby in France, England and Turkey.

Andrew has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and completed his PGCE in Physical Education with Nottingham University. He has lived in South Korea, with his Korean wife and daughter, for 11 years, primarily as Coaching Director of an international football academy and holds coaching licenses through the FA and FFA. He enjoys playing sports and is the Head coach for Middle and High school Football teams.

Stephen Davidson has a BA in Education & Visual Arts from The University of Tasmania and is about to complete an MA in International Education from King’s College, London. He started teaching in 1985 in Australia as a primary classroom teacher and in 1999 he started his international teaching career at Batu Hijau International School in Indonesia as a visual arts and computing specialist. In 2010 he moved to Léman International School in Chengdu, China, which is part of the Nord Anglia Education group of schools. For five years at this school he was the sole art specialist, teaching Kindergarten to Grade 12 and was Head of Art for the last year of this post. He have completed the Masters Degree and it was awarded with merit from King's College London in December 2018. He is a practicing artist, who paints large oil paintings and small water colours, both of which are naive, visual narratives. He is also a passionate photographer, quilter and loves to knit clothes from vintage knitting patterns.

Scott is from Nottingham in the UK and gained an LLB in Law before gaining a PGCE in Secondary English from the University of Wales, Bangor. After working in a state school in the UK he moved to Korea in 2005 where he has remained ever since. Scott has worked in Korean Middle Schools, a University and Foreign Language High Schools before moving to NLCS Jeju. Scott has a Master's degree in English Studies and completed a course in Korean at Sogang University. Scott is married to a Korean national and has three daughters.

Simon Davis received his PhD in Physics from Lancaster University. He holds an MSc in Semiconductor Physics and a BSc in Physics with Astrophysics from King's College London. He has worked at NLCS Jeju for three years and also taught in the UK. Prior to teaching, he worked in several industries for more than a decade. He has seen much of Jeju and is involved in various arts and social activities with his wife on the island.

Rachel is from the North East of England, UK and has been in the NLCS Jeju community for the last few years, arriving as a Grad Assistant. She has a BA (Hons) in Design from The University of Edinburgh and her teaching qualification from The University of Sheffield. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, she worked as a freelance designer in the advertising industry, as well as working in freelance arts facilitation for over five years.

Tobias is from New Zealand. He completed his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry at the University of Canterbury. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (NZGSE), Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) and a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (GDBS). He is passionate about teaching IB Chemistry and has worked as an assistant examiner for several years. He is married and has one son.

Megan Dyer-Jones has a joint MA (Hons) in Anthropology and Geography from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. After graduating Megan chose to combine her love of teaching with her second love of travelling and completed her CELTA travelling to teach in both China and Spain for three years before returning to the UK to complete her PGCE at the Institute of Education, UCL. For the past four years Megan has worked at an all-through comprehensive school in South East London as both a Geography teacher and 2iC of Humanities. Megan likes adventure and learning more about Korean culture and language while inspiring her pupils to achieve their greatest goals.

Martyn has a BA (Hons) in English and History from York University and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Literature from Sheffield University. His teaching qualification is from Liverpool Hope University. Whilst studying at York University, he was fortunate enough to have his poems published in local anthologies. Martyn has taught overseas since August 2000 and has taught in Taiwan, China and Singapore. His last post was as the IGCSE Coordinator and English teacher at the Australian International School in Singapore. Martyn is a lover of the great outdoors and has travelled extensively across Europe, North America and Asia.

Alex Gellersen has a BSc in Physics from the University of Birmingham and a PGDipEd in Teaching from King Edwards Consortium. She won an Institute of Physics scholarship alongside her teacher training. She has taught Physics in the UK and Switzerland, with a focus on post-16 courses. She is excited to work as part of a large Physics department and experience a new culture.

Nick is originally from the UK but has lived and worked in East Asia for many years. He also attended an international school himself as a boy, in France. He studied physics and astrophysics at the University of London, then spent nearly eight years teaching English in Japan and China before getting married and returning to the UK to qualify as a physics teacher at the University of Sussex. He has since worked in the UK independent sector and internationally, and has experience as a housemaster and pastoral leader as well as teaching physics and maths across the secondary age range. He joined NLCS Jeju in 2016 and has children in the senior school.

Mark has a B.Sc. (Hons) Applied Mathematics and a PGDE (Secondary), both from the University of Glasgow. Prior to joining the School, Mark was Head of Maths at a school in Switzerland. Mark enjoys travelling, working out, and games and puzzles of any sort. He enjoys exploring Korea and learning about it's culture.

Evangeline Grant has a BA in English Language from the University of Manchester. She completed the Teach First Leadership Development programme and obtained her PGCE in Secondary English. She has taught in the U.K., Hong Kong and Kenya. Evangeline is excited to join NLCS and share her passion for her subject. She is also looking forward to exploring the island of Jeju and learning more about Korean culture.

Akanksha is an outgoing and jovial person. She has a Bachelor in Arts, a BEd. in secondary economics and English language teaching, an MA in linguistics, and an MEd in advanced teaching practices. Before joining NLCS Jeju, she taught in Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, and Oman and looks forward to experiencing Korean culture and sharing her passion for teaching at NLCS Jeju.

Born in Northampton, England, Chris has an iPGCE from the University of Sunderland and a Masters in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Birmingham. He has been teaching in Korea for over 12 years; and has worked as a teacher trainer to Korean public-school teachers. He leads a student-centered classroom and is passionate about developing both himself and his students. When not in the classroom, Chris can be found out on his bike getting lost in the Korean countryside.

Will Hebbron graduated with a Bsc (Hons) in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Sheffield, and completed his teaching qualifications at the University of Cambridge. He has taught mathematics in the UK and China, and was Acting Head of the mathematics faculty at Dulwich College Suzhou immediately before coming to Jeju. Prior to teaching mathematics, Will spent six years teaching Englsih as a Second Language in Korea and is well-acquainted with the country. He enjoys living in Jeju Island where he had his honeymoon in 2014. Will lives with his wife Miseon, and baby daughter Clara.

Mi Ri is from Korea and obtained Bachelor's degree specializing in Korean Language & Korean History Education at Chosun University in GwangJu. She also qualified as a Korean second language teacher from Seoul National University. Mi Ri began a career in teaching at a local high school on the mainland for 4 years and She has been working at NLCS Jeju since 2015. She is teaching the whole year group and she is delighted to share all the joys and sorrows with students on their journey to complete their dreams. She is still looking forward to exploring the unknown world upcoming, which will be doing with students.

Fabián Herrera is from Chile where he obtained a BA in Social Communication and Journalism from Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción. After working as a reporter for the national television station, he enrolled in a language teacher training course studying English and German, before moving to the UK where he completed his teacher training at the then National Centre for Languages, CILT. He has been a teacher in a grammar school in Kent, England since 2004, where he has taught Spanish at all levels. He has held posts as Head of Year, Head of Spanish and Head Modern Languages. He has also been a mentor for trainee teachers and worked as a Teacher Leader for the Prince's Teaching Institute delivering professional development workshops for teachers across the UK. Fabián is delighted to join NLCS Jeju to continue to develop his experience in teaching foreign languages. He has been interested in Korean culture, language and food for many years now and he and his wife are very pleased to be able to live in the magnificence of Jeju-do as well as discovering the culinary treasures of the island and Korea in general.

Chris has an MA Educational Leadership and Management from The Open University. Prior to joining the School he taught at a school in the UK. Chris lives on Jeju with his wife, two daughters and their dog. He loves loves physical activity and the outdoors. He has already cycled all over the island, scaled Halla on foot and by bike, enjoyed the ski fields of the mainland and visited the beautiful beaches of Jeju.

Sarah Heydinger has been working in education for over three decades. She trained at a teacher training institute in Cheltenham, UK, which later became known as the University of Gloucestershire, where she gained a B.Ed. with honours. Sarah has primarily taught mathematics in the UK, New Zealand, and Jeju, but has always held student support roles, ranging from Head of Year for over 300 students to a volunteer counsellor at Centre 33 (Cambridge, UK) and Youthline (Auckland, NZ). She has also volunteered for the Samaritans' crisis phone service in the UK.

She is delighted to be using her Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy as part of the Emotional Guidance Counselling Team. She is based in the Junior school at NLCS Jeju. Sarah is also the Boarding Mistress at Iho Boarding Home.

David is ethnically Korean but was raised in the United States. He has a BS in Mathematical and Computational Science and a MS in Engineering-Economic Systems and Operations Research from Stanford University along with a MA in Intercultural Studies and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Wheaton College. He has his teaching credentials for teaching secondary mathematics from the state of Florida. He has been teaching internationally, both mathematics and English, for over 13 years in Korea, China, and Turkey. He has a lovely wife named Hannah and an equally lovable beagle named Billy. He considers himself a lifelong learner, and believes the best teachers are those who see their jobs as a calling. He is excited to share his enthusiasm for maths with his students and learn what they are passionate about.

Marina Jeffery has a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the Open University, which she gained whilst working full time in Retail Management and Training. Having re-trained as an English Teacher, she has developed her love of Victorian novels and creative writing within her 20 years in the classroom. She is also fascinated by the way people learn, and enjoys keeping up to date with the latest educational research. Marina likes learning Korean literature and popular culture (and experiencing Korean food with her Chef husband!)

After earning a BFA in Illustration from the Parsons School of Design in New York, Yeon Hwa went on to gain a Master’s degree from a graduate school of Hongik University in Art Education. She started her teaching career at Hillsboro Private School in the US and before moving to NLCS Jeju, she taught Art and Korean at Seoul Foreign School, Seoil University and Digital Seoul Culture Arts University in Seoul. Yeon Hwa is passionate about Art as well as teaching those new to the Korean language.

Daniel has an MS.Ed. in English Education from City University of New York Lehman College, a BA English from Ohio University - Honors Tutorial College and a Public School Teacher Professional Certificate- from University of the State of New York. Prior to joining the School he taught and was the Director of IB Programmes at a school in America. Dan is a passionate lifelong learner and IBEN educator who, when not in the classroom, enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors, basketball, and travelling. He lives on Jeju with his wife and two children. He enjoys contributing to NLCS Jeju's traditions of academic excellence and the cultivation of international mindedness and global citizenship in service of a better world.

Before coming to NLCS Jeju in 2011, Byung Gyu was teaching Korean in a Korean School. He studied Korean Language and Literature and then carried on further studies and has got a Master’s degree in Korean language education. Byung Gyu graduated from Yonsei University and is currently completing a PhD in Koreanology, he is passionate about academic life and wishes to use this passion for his subject to further inspire his students. Byung Gyu has now a long experience of teaching the IBDP Korean and IGCSE Korean Language classes. He has enjoyed living in Jeju since 2011 and has fallen in love with its nature and unique atmosphere that the island offers.

Maxton Karamalla is a teacher of French and Spanish and joined the European Languages Department in 2016. Maxton joined us from the UK and he has also taught Italian and Japanese as part of our co-curricular program. Maxton is an avid linguist and he has completed extensive academic research in Modern Languages and Literature in a range of universities including the University of London, Oxford University, the Sorbonne University and Universidad de Buenos Aires. Whilst here in Jeju, Maxton has completed his PHD and is now Dr Karamalla. He enjoys reading, playing sports, travelling and discovering new cultures in his free time.

Sharon joined NLCS Jeju in September 2014, having been Head of Faculty at an International IB School in Cyprus for 7 years. In addition to her BA (Hons.), she studied Psychoanalysis and Culture for her MA, specialising in visual analysis. Sharon has particular expertise in critical and contextual studies, and film and digital media. She completed her PGCE at UCL and worked for 5 years in an inner London state school running the A level Art program. Sharon moved to Jeju with her partner, Mr Crebier and has 2 sons.

Boyoung Kim is from South Korea and came to NLCS Jeju in 2016 with over 16 years of university guidance experience at prestigious high schools in Korea such as Hanyoung Foreign Language High School and CheongShim International Academy. She studied Psychology at Purdue University in the United States and finished a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling in Yonsei University. She was an advisory committee member of AP Research and Development Team in KIST. She was also a consultant for the Dream Scholarship in Korea Student Aid Foundation and is a member of Korean Counselling Psychological Association.

Hugh was born in South Korea and he grew up in London. Hugh studied BSc Biomedical Science at Imperial College London and MSc Clinical Neuroscience at University College London. After obtaining a PGCE Secondary Science qualification from the Institute of Education, he started to work as a Science teacher in both state and private schools in the UK. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Hugh has been teaching at Harrow Beijing for 3 years and he is thrilled to continue his teaching career at NLCS Jeju.

Hyehyang is from Korea and after earning a BA in English Language and Literature, went on to gain a Masters degree in English Education and teaching certification at Chung-Ang University in Seoul. She has also completed KTTC Korean Teacher's Training Course at Jeju National University and recently completed a BA in Korean Language and Literature from the Korea National Open University. She worked at the Shanghai Korean International school before she moved to Jeju to start work at NLCS Jeju when it opened in 2011. She is passionate about teaching KSL and Korean B.

Jae Shin Kim comes from Korea and, after earning a Bachelor's degree in Korean and English, went on to gain a Masters degree in English and a TESOL Diploma in Canada. She is currently attending graduate school to acquire a Master's degree in Korean. After working in a foreign company for some years, she worked as a teacher in domestic schools for more than 6 years. Jae Shin enjoys teaching at NLCS Jeju, which is her first post in international education.

Jeanhee is a Korean Language and History teacher at NLCS Jeju. Prior to joining NLCS, she worked in Korean high schools for more than 11 years. She also worked as a public educational official affiliated with the Office of Education. She completed three majors as part of her degree: History, Social studies and Korean Language and Literature. Jeanhee also holds both a Master’s degree in education and Social studies education. She also earned her Reading, Debating and Essay Instructor Certificate from National University Association. Jeanhee remains passionate about students and their learning and looks forward to guiding our students in achieving academic success and continued intellectual growth.

Mark has a Master of International Education -from the University of Melbourne, and a Master of Teaching from the University of Western Australia, as well as a Graduate Certificate of STEM Education from Monash University and a Bachelor of Science Biology from University of Maryland College Park. His CELTA is from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining the School Mark was a teacher in Australia. He is a qualified Visual Arts teacher and has taught Visual Arts until last 2021. He has taught lower school mathematics and EAL/D as well. Furthermore, he has been an ESL/EFL teacher for more than 10 years. Mark enjoys adventure and learning from new experiences, which is why he decided to come to Jeju. He loves reading and watching movies and has a keen interest in how people learn and apply their knowledge, which is why he is currently studying Gifted Education.

Yeonha is originally from Incheon. She graduated from Ewha Womans University in 2013 and studied Social Studies Education and Integrated Social Studies Education. Yeonha worked at Chadwick International school in Songdo for 2 years before moving to NLCS Jeju in 2017. She teaches Korean History for Yr7 to Yr11.

Kihyun has a Bachelor’s degree in Political science and Diplomacy and a double major in history from Konkuk University. She has taught Grade 12 Korean history at Chadwick International School for five years. Her previous experience at a multicultural public school sparked her interest in learning about other cultures. This led to Kihyun travelling to various places around the world such as Russia, Mongolia, Vietnam, U.SA and Taiwan. She is originally from Incheon.

Jin Woo has a BSc Chemistry from the University of Auckland and a PGDipTchg from the University of Auckland. Prior to joining the School he taught at a Grammar School in Auckland, New Zealand. Jin Woo enjoys travelling and learning about Korean history and culture. He enjoys discovering Jeju's beautiful scenery and trying local delicacies. He has a keen interest in Football and he is a Liverpool FC supporter. They enjoy mentoring students to develop their passsion for Chemistry.

Lindsay has a Master of Education (M.Ed) - Society, Culture and Literacies. Lindsay enjoys exploring Jeju Island and finding small gems within different neighbourhoods. She explores new places with her dog, Oreum, who was found all by herself exploring the bottom of Sanbang-san. She loves Jeju because of the easy access to beaches at time of the day. She loves to snorkel and hopes to learn freediving on the island in the near future. Lindsay also likes to paint and do calligraphy at home.

Dr Levett has 10 years teaching experience both in the UK and internationally. After completing his degree in Physics at the University of Bristol, he completed a PhD in experimental Physics at the University of Cambridge. He then spent 10 years working in Finance, qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG then had a successful career in Investment Banking. He then decided to go back to his love of learning and achieved Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through the Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) programme at Canterbury Christ Church University. He worked in London followed by 6 years at a prestigious Malaysian International School before joining NLCS Jeju. He is passionate about fundamental Physics and how the intellectual skills developed in Physics can be applied to a wide range of areas of knowledge. He got married in 2018 and loves the Jeju countryside.

Carl has been the Assistant Vice-Principal (Academic - Teaching and Learning) since August 2022, and lives in Jeju with his wife and daughter. Carl has a NPQSL from the University College London, NASENCO from the University of Wolverhampton, an MA Educational Leadership and Innovation from the University of West London, a PGCE from the University of Warwick and a BA (Hons) English Language and Literature via the Open University. Having led large departments, faculties and whole school teaching and learning portfolios in the past, Carl has aspirations to develop and grow further as a school leader and he is currently completing his National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). Prior to joining the School, he worked at a British International School in Beijing, China. In keeping with his subject specialism in English Literature, Carl really enjoys reading prose that can transport him to different worlds and cultures. He also enjoys remaining abreast of developments in pedagogy and practice, and will often be found with a recent educational publication on his reading pile. Carl has a keen interest in sports and takes immense pleasure in the playing and watching of football and cricket, despite the fact that his best playing days are long behind him.

Adam Lim has a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Philosophy Minor from the University of Alberta, a Master of Education with a specialization in International Education from Framingham State University, and a Teaching Certificate from Moreland University. He has been living and teaching in South Korea since 2011. Most recently, he was the IBDP English A Language and Literature Teacher, TOK Coordinator, and University Guidance Counsellor at the Gyeonggi Academy of Foreign Languages in Uiwang, South Korea. When he is not spending time with his wife, Adam enjoys a variety of physical activity, ranging from weightlifting to water polo. He is interested in learning new skills and looks forward to working with NLCS Jeju’s students and staff alike towards turning dreams into reality.

Audrey has a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu, China. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Audrey worked at an International School in Thailand. She has also taught in international schools in Indonesia for 10 years and has experience of teaching IBDP and IGCSE. She also worked for a youth association in Hong Kong. Audrey is likely a gourmet. She enjoys tasting delicious food, cooking food, photography, language study and traveling. She enjoys exploring the many beautiful cafes of Jeju.

Jenny brings extensive international experience to NLCS Jeju after spending years living in Beijing, the United States and her home country of Taiwan. She was the Head of Chinese at Dulwich College, Beijing prior to moving to Jeju. She received a Master's degree in Education and teaching from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in the US. Jenny is married and has two children.

Stacey has an MA English Literature from National Chung-Hsing University Taiwan, BA English Literature from Tamkang University Taiwan and a PGCEi from Keele University. Prior to joining the School she has worked in Taiwan, New Zealand and Vietnam. Stacey enjoys reading and traveling. She loves living in Jeju because of all the outdoor activities and beautiful scenery. She lives on Jeju with her husband. Whilst at NLCS, she enjoys gaining further experience both in her subject domain and to inspire students to learn the language.

Alejandra has a BA in English language, history and literature from the University of Granada, an MA in Teaching Spanish as a second language from the University of Sevilla and an MA in Teaching Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching from the University of Granada. She completed her PGCE at the University of Southampton. Prior to joining the School she taught in the UK. Alejandra enjoys long walks by the seaside, sports, cooking and drawing. At the moment, she is learning how to play the ukulele, and she enjoys exploring Jeju with her husband and immersing herself in the Korean culture - and trying the delicious Korean cuisine, of course. She enjoys teaching languages and is excited to share her passion for the Spanish language and culture at NLCS Jeju.

Dylan has a BA (Hons) in Historical Studies from The University of KwaZulu-Natal and an MA in Historical Studies from the University of Cape Town. After university, he went back to his old school where he taught English and headed the history department before moving to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to teach English at Jeddah Knowledge International School. Dylan considers himself a curious mixture of sports-jock and academic-nerd as his interests include rugby, kayaking, endurance running, reading, researching and writing. Academically, he is co-authored an article for the Journal of Natal and Zulu History. Personally, he loves living on Jeju and exploring the Olle trails with his wife and young daughter.

Cara is from Wales, UK and graduated with a first class honours degree in creative arts, before pursuing a PGCE (teaching) qualification in the UK. Subsequently, she taught in an independent SEN school operated by Action for Children which used therapeutic and trauma-informed practices in order to support young people who presented with significant emotional, social and behavioural challenges. Here, Cara developed a passion for working with children therapeutically and later completed a Masters in Special Educational Needs (ESBD and adolescent Mental Health focus) from the University of Nottingham and a Diploma In Counselling from The Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors. She is a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

Cara worked in an international school in Singapore prior to joining NLCS Korea and also spent some time living in the Middle East. She enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures and food with her young family, as well as slow weekend strolls around contemporary art galleries and Jeju's beautiful gotjawals.

Tim has a BA from Swansea University and a Master’s from Université Lumière Lyon II. He has over 20 years’ experience teaching in the UK, France and Japan, and most recently held the position of Head of MFL and Assistant Head of Sixth Form at a school in North Devon. Tim is looking forward learning another language and to having a new adventure with his family.

Russell has a BA Sociology from the University of Reading and PGCE from the University of Exeter. Currently he is working towards an MSc in Psychology with a specialism in Clinical Psychology from the University of Exeter. Prior to joining the School, Russell worked at schools in inner city London. Russell enjoys travelling around Asia, reading widely and cooking. Russell loves living in Jeju because it’s so beautiful and full of wonderful nature to hike in. Russell has a keen interest in politics and current affairs. He lives on Jeju with his wife and son. He enjoys bringing his experience of British education to this exceptional school.

Kyungmin is originally from South Korea and holds a Bachelor's degree in Korean Language Education along with his teaching qualification from Korea University. He began his teaching career at a local high school in Jeju and also has experience working as a mock exam developer for the Korean language subject in the Korean S.A.T. Currently, he teaches Korean Language and the IB Korean A Lang & Lit, striving to create a joyful learning experience for his students. Since getting married in 2016, he has been residing in Jeju, where he enjoys exploring the island's natural beauty, including its trail courses, oreums (volcanic cones), and beaches.

Muhammad is an Egyptian educator with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Cairo University. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Liverpool John Moores University. With experience in teaching at seven British international schools in Egypt and Morocco since 2012, Muhammad is passionate about nurturing young minds. He also has a background in laboratory work, he worked as Quality Control Analyst. Married and a proud father of one daughter, Muhammad's dedication to education and family shines brightly in his life.

Kiran has an MSc Computer Science from Mumbai Univerisity. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Kiran taught at a School in Indonesia. Kiran loves sports and enjoy playing cricket and badminton. He lives on Jeju with his wife and son. He believes an organisation with a heritage of 170 years and delivering the best of education and developing global citizens will allow him to grow both as an individual and professional. He loves to explore the the culture of Korea and natural beauty of Jeju's island.

Ben Matthews has a BA (Hons) in History with Sociology and a PGCE from the University of Leeds. He also earned a MA in History from the University of Birmingham, where he was awarded a distinction. Prior to teaching at NLCS Jeju, he worked as an IBDP Coordinator for three years and taught for ten years at Gyeonggi Academy of Foreign Languages, in Korea. Ben has also taught History in England and Qatar, and is excited to join NLCS Jeju. He is originally from Whitley Bay (England) and he loves to spend time with his family, and play a range of sports.

Adam McCue has an Upper Second class degree from Liverpool John Moores University, a Diploma in TESOL and an MEd (Applied Linguistics). He is in his tenth year of teaching English as an Additional Language, with the majority of this time in various locations around Korea; Seoul, Incheon, Daegu and Busan. Since joining NLCS Jeju, Adam has worked as an AED teacher and also as Assistant Housemaster in Halla East as well as being a Housemaster in Jeoji.

Stephen McKeogh has a Master’s degree in Geography from NUI Maynooth and GMIT, where he was also awarded a BA in Heritage Studies with Honours. Stephen graduated with Distinction and has presented a paper at The Royal Geographical Society. Prior to teaching in Korea, Stephen was Head of Geography at Boston Spa Academy in West Yorkshire, he spent 7 years teaching there with excellent results. Stephen has also worked in Ireland and Korea in the University sector, in Ireland Stephen worked as an Academic Coordinator whose focus was upon Academic writing and integration for Chinese and Korean students in Ireland. Stephen worked at Dongguk University in Seoul for 5 years teaching English and also lectured in Environmental Geography. He has an interest in Korean History, Archaeology and Geography. Stephen likes Korean culture and cuisine.

Robert has BA in Philosophy and Politics from University College Dublin, in Ireland. He gained further qualifications in the UK including a Masters in International History and a PGCE through the University of Sunderland. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, he has taught at mixed IB and British International schools for six years, with time spent in Korea and the cities of Nanjing and Hangzhou in China. Robert has a keen interest in both playing and watching sports and he hopes that Jeju can provide the impetus to reignite his passion for golf and tennis once again.

Rohita has a BA of Dance from Wesley College and a PGCE from Liverpool Hope University. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Rohita was the curriculum lead at a school in Dubai. Rohita has lived and taught in 4 different countries as an adult and loves cooking food from different cultures. Rohita has a keen interest in the making of independent films and film festivals because she is curious about the art of cinematography. Rohita is currently training in stylized contemporary choreography where you explore merging various dance styles together in modern dance. She plans to further develop the value of creative risk in performance art.

Darija Minic has an MSc in Occupational Health Psychology from Leiden University in the Netherlands. She obtained her BSc in Psychology at University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy, in Serbia, her home country. Darija has already spent two years working at NLCS Jeju as a Gap Assistant and as a Grad Assistant after which she moved to Thailand and spent a year working in boarding and in the Learning Support Department at Harrow International School Bangkok.

Anna always been a creative person who thrives in a challenging environment. She has a master degree from Inha university and have been in education for over 15 years, recently specializing in IB Korean, most recently held the position of Korean teacher. Anna is looking forward to joining NLCS because I can meet new people and I am such a natural person.

Dr. Moore has continually utilised an interdisciplinary approach in his research and study of Physics and Biology. These diverse interests have allowed him to assist in the use of cryo-electron microscopy at the University of Manchester (UK) to link the structure of the MjCorA transporter protein to its transport mechanism as part of his BSc (Hons). He then obtained his Ph.D. at Newcastle University (UK) where he used Bioinformatic and Pathway Analysis approaches to elucidate the effects of Selenium on the stress responses of gastrointestinal epithelial cells. During this time, Dr. Moore had collaborated with researchers in New Zealand to investigate the effects of differential partial pressures of oxygen on cell responses using a novel cell culture system. He then embraced his passion for teaching by obtaining a PGCE in Physics and has taught in the UK for 4 years before moving to Jeju. Dr. Moore's mission in teaching is to inspire his students to become life-long learners that create bridges between specialisms to help further our scientific knowledge. He enjoys wild camping, cycling and nature.

David has a Social Sciences Degree from Westminster University and a Masters from Greenwich University. David has over 23 years' experience working in London and Qatar and most recently held the position of Head of Sociology and Director of Model United Nations. David is looking forward to joining NLCS Jeju because of its reputation for academic achievement and the beautiful nature of the island.

Philip has a PgDipEd from the University of Birmingham and a BSc (Hons) Forensic Science from the Staffordshire University. Prior to joining the School, Philip has been working for the last 7 years in a British International school located in the deserts of Qatar, teaching Chemistry and ICT as well as being responsible for leading with the many digital systems used for school management and teaching. Before obtaining his PgDipEd Philip developed the passion for education whilst writing and lecturing for Staffordshire University, and for several years led the development of award winning products used in school science labs and classrooms around the world. Like most international teachers Philip is a keen traveller and has taken his backpack to many places all over the world. He is particularly at home in Greece which he visits at least once a year and has spent many a summer and christmas holiday. As an amateur wildlife photographer at weekends he can often be seen with camera in hand walking through a nature reserve or wildlife park and is eager to start hiking the trails of Jeju.

James Munday has a BA (Hons) in English and History, an MA in Classics and Ancient History from the University of Exeter, and his iPGCE from the University of Sheffield. After James' time at Exeter, he fell in love with Jeju and NLCS Jeju whilst on holiday to see his mum. James is a film lover and particularly enjoys historical films. He is also a keen gamer, walker, reader, and J.R.R. Tolkien enthusiast. James enjoys research and wants to study for a PhD in history. James also loves the many Olle walks that Jeju has and intends on walking more of them this year with his wife.

Justine Oliver has a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Nottingham and an MA in South Asian Area Studies from The School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Her teaching qualification is from Keele University. She has also worked as an archaeologist, being part of excavation teams at both Roman and Iron Age sites. Her work in education has also taken her to the museum sector where she designed and ran workshop programmes at the Science Museum, London. Justine is passionate about the IB Diploma Programme, and which she has led at both Island School, Hong Kong and Southbank International School, London. Justine loves Jeju - especially exploring the island on foot, by mountain bike and on horseback.

Timilehin is a Nigerian with a bachelor's degree in theater Arts (Directing and Playwriting) and a Professional Diploma in education. He has five years of experience teaching Drama in international schools and a successful track record directing performances for Nigerian theaters. In 2022, he took up his first international teaching role in Myanmar. Timilehin enjoys reading, taking walks, and exploring new sights. He is excited to join NLCS, as he looks forward to sharing his passion for teaching and immersing himself in the rich culture of education that NLCS has to offer.

Arunima comes from India where she taught Economics and Business Studies to IB & IGCSE students for over 18 years. She has a Masters degree in Economics and English along with a B.Ed. Arunima is an IB Examiner and Moderator for Economics HL. Before taking her first overseas teaching job at NLCS Jeju Arunima worked in IB schools as Head of Department, IB Coordinator and Head of School. She has a daughter who attends the Junior school.

Joan has a BA in English Language and Literature from Seoul National University and an iPGCE from the University of Sunderland. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, she taught IBDP and IGCSE at schools in Mexico, Uzbekistan and Turkey. She was born in South Korea and raised in Mexico. Joan is looking forward to exploring the beautiful island of Jeju and indulging in its culinary delights with her husband.

Before joining and helping to establish NLCS Jeju’s Korean Department in 201, Misun taught Korean in various capacities at an international school in Seoul for 5 years, as well as a local Middle and High school in Cheong-ju. Misun has extensive experience of teaching Korean from KS3 to KS5 and she has a passiom for teaching Korean Literature. Misun also has an MA from Hankook University of Foreign Studies.

Mr. Park has various experience not only teaching but also as a government officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He started teaching at Myungduk Foreign Language High School in Seoul before he moved to Thailand as an IB Korean teacher. He worked at the British International School Phuket and Prem Tinsulanonda International School in Chiang Mai for 5 years prior to joining NLCS Jeju in August 2017. He is the sole IB workshop leader of the Korean Language and Literature Programme in the world and holds a MEd from Yonsei University. He is an enthusiastic learner who is always geared up to challenge something new. He believes his unique work experience enabled him to broaden his horizons and this will foster students to be a global citizens.

Derek Patenaude has a BSc. (Hons) in Chemistry and Biochemistry from University of Western Ontario, London, Canada and an MEd in Curriculum Development and English as an Additional Language Learning from the University of British Columbia. His teaching qualification is from the University of Toronto, Ontario Institute of Education. Before training as a teacher, he was an assistant teacher of laboratories at McGill University and worked in an educational capacity for various organisations in Canada such as the Ontario March of Dimes. His last post was as a chemistry teacher and Vice-Principal for Maple Leaf International School in Tianjin, China. He is enjoys the many hiking trails of Jeju and returning to such beautiful sites as Mt. Halla and Ilchulbong

Tony has an MEd-RMIT, BMus (Performance) from the University of Melbourne and a Grad Dip Ed from theUniversity of Melbourne. Prior to joining the School he was Director of Music at a school in Australia. Tony loves playing music and enjoying sports such as Australian Rules Football and Cricket. He lives on Jeju with his wife. He is really looking forward to meeting and making music with the students at NLCS Jeju and enjoying the best of what Jeju has to offer.

Ian has a BA (Hons) in Music from Kingston University and has taught both Music and Drama for half of his professional teaching career. His PGCE teaching qualification is from Middlesex University, however, before training as a teacher he worked in the UK as an assistant opera director. He has worked overseas for many years in countries including Madrid, Rome and Jakarta, with his most recent post being Head of Drama at Tanglin Trust School, Singapore. He enjoys living in Jeju and exploring the culinary world of the region.

Valentina is a dance educator, performance artist, and dance anthropologist. She completed the International Choreomundus Master programme in Dance Knowledge, Practice and Heritage from the University of Roehampton and a PGCE from the University of Sunderland. Her contemporary dance choreographies were selected for the Shenzhen Fringe Festival 2022 and Shekou Theater Festival 2022. Valentina is passionate about developing a multicultural dance curriculum with an emphasis on young learners’ well-being. When she is not dancing or teaching dance, you can find her going for hikes and convincing everyone about the importance of movement quality.

Dr Seyed has a Bsc and Msc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Guilan, and the IAU respectively; both universities located in Iran, and has a Phd in Mathematics (Differential Equations) from the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. Seyed has over 17 years teaching experience in higher education institutes in Iran and an IB school in Georgia, and most recently held the position of Invited Lecturer in the University of Guilan. All through his life, he has been fascinated with sports such as Athletics, Soccer, Rugby, and Badminton, and also art such as Music, Playing Keyboard, Film Editing, Film Producing, Filming (Camerawork). Seyed is looking forward to joining NLCS because he loves to work in an International environment, be a part of a well developed school and play a role in a pioneer educational system.

Thena Reddy has a BA in English Language and Literature and Yr 1 Honours in Journalistic Media and a Postgraduate Certificate in English and Social Studies from the prestigious Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. She has taught in Johannesburg, Japan, London and China. Her passion lies in showing those that the English language is as delicious as forbidden fruit and once you are exposed to it in a meaningful and exciting way one is able to see that it is always evolving. She is knowledgeable in writing curriculums and has a profound understanding of English pedagogy and assessment. An avid reader that enjoys a variety of genres. She is also a toastmasters candidate.

Craig holds a BA in media and mass communication theory and a PGCE from the University of Derby with a focus on English education. He is currently completing his master’s in English literature with the University of Northumbria, with research interests in early modern literature. Craig has over fifteen years of experience working in education and has worked with primary and secondary students as well as adults in the UK and Korea. Craig has lived in Seoul, Incheon and Geoje-do in South Korea before moving to Jeju-do. He has a keen interest in a variety of literature, from nineteenth-century classics to science fiction, and is excited to discuss whatever it is you’re currently reading. When not reading or in the classroom, Craig enjoys a slow morning at a café with his family or playing the guitar.

Sarah graduated in Law from Birmingham University in England and had a successful career as a Litigation Lawyer in Manchester for twelve years. However, she has a lifelong love of Mathematics and was fortunate to be presented with the opportunity to retrain as a Maths teacher. She has subsequently taught in two Grammar Schools and one Independent school in West Yorkshire, England. She enjoys keeping fit, reading, and traveling and spent time living and traveling in Australia and South Africa with her husband, Glenn. She likes experiencing a new culture.

Jearson has a BSc (Hons) in Maths Teaching and an M.ed in Technology and Educative Innovation both from the National University of Costa Rica. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju he taught at a school and a number of univerities in Costa Rica - Teaching Calculus, Linear Algebra and Numerical Methods. Jearson enjoys outdoor activities (especially fly fishing ) and football.

Joel has a BSc Pharmacology from University of Hertfordshire, prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Joel taught at a school in Malaysia. Joel has a passion for extreme sports and the natural world, and is excited at the prospect of having opportunities for both scuba diving and snowboarding, while living and working in Jeju. He believes in the power of a holistic education and hopes to foster a sense of independence and internationalism in the students of NLCS Jeju.

Emma has a BA(HONS) in Classics I from Durham University and a PGCE from Kings’ College London. Passionate about her subject, she loves to inspire her students to share her interest in the Classical world. She has over 20 years of teaching experience and has been Head of department in both her previous schools, most recently a boarding school in Devon. She is looking forward to exploring Jeju and experiencing a new culture with her family.

Caroline is from the UK and holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature and German from Swansea University, as well as a PGCE in English from the University of Bristol. Caroline taught in the UK state system for five years prior to her move to Jeju, holding the positions of 2nd in Department and Literacy Coordinator. NLCS Jeju is Caroline’s first international school, and she has worked here as an English Teacher since 2015. Caroline is married with two young children and her husband also teaches at NLCS Jeju.

Jason is from the UK and holds both a BA (Hons) and MA in International Relations. He specialises in Political Theory and the International Politics of Space. Jason went on to complete his teacher training at Bristol University where he completed his PGCE. He have completed the NPQML and is also a facilitator of this course (UCL). Jason started his teaching career in the UK state system and held a number of positions including Director of Humanities. Jason is married with two children. Jason currently teaches IB History and is the Link Teacher for the International Relations Society.

Niall is from Northern Ireland, and holds a BSC (Hons) in Multimedia Technology. Before arriving at NLCS Jeju, he taught Computer Science for 5 years in a leading school in London and spent 3 years teaching in middle schools in South Korea. Niall enjoys living in Jeju with his wife and daughter and enjoys mountain biking around the island and exploring its various oreums.

Sunghyun has a BA Liberal Arts programme - History of East Asia from University of Tokyo (full 'The University of Tokyo Scholarship) and an iPGCE (Geography) from the University of Sunderland. Sunghyun was a student at NLCS Jeju for four years where she was Head of the Geogrpahy Society, a member of the Big Six and a Mulchat House Captain. She returned to NLCS Jeju to work as a Graduate Assistant in the Geography Department and trained to be a teacher. Sunghyun enjoys going to library and gym. Sunghyun loves living in Jeju because of the relatively low population density (in comparison to Seoul). She believes that students can only learn when they are happy and healthy (importance of pastoral care).

Tajvir is married with one son and one daughter. He comes from India, where he taught in one of the leading boarding school as Head of Computer Science for 5 yrs, before moving on to his first International school in January 2009. His first degree was in Computer Science and he also holds a PGCEi in Education from Nottingham University. Before moving to NLCS Jeju, Tajvir taught in Jakarta for six years as Curriculum coordinator and the MYP project coordinator.

Julia Smith has a BA hons in Physical Education and Dance Fellowship in Freestyle dance from the University Greenwich in the UK. She has worked extensively in the UK - most recently as Head of Dance and School Sports Co-ordinator at Langley Park School for Girls in Beckenham, Kent. Previously she was Head of Dance at Plumstead Manor School. She hopes to share her passion for dance and creative wellbeing with the students and NLCS Jeju community. She wants to develop new opportunities to showcase creative talent and enrich and grow students’ confidence and self belief.

Meltham has a GradDipTchg(Sec) from the University of Auckland. Prior to joining the School she was Head of Physics at a school in New Zealand. Turkish origin and a former Kiwi, she has been teaching senior and junior students for 7 years in Auckland, New Zealand, getting them excited about the beauty of physics and science. Meltem loves to travel and appreciates books, historical places and new flavours. She is looking forward to getting know the island, the people and the school.

Eun Ji Song studied International Tourism in Korea and after working with children and young people over 10 years, she found a passion in pastoral care. She gained a Diploma in Counselling and Postgraduate Certificate as a SENCO in the United Kingdom. She joined NLCS Jeju in 2017 and worked in the Additional Educational Needs department in the Junior School and is now a member of Individual Needs department. Currently, she is taking a Master's degree in Mental Health and Well-Being in Education.

Rukia is from the UK and was awarded a First Class in BA (Hons) Fine Art from Kingston University. She obtained her QTS from Wessex Schools Training Partnership and her PGCE from Bath Spa University. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, she taught art, photography and graphics along the South West coast of England. She has a keen interest in the creative arts, travel and food.

Stella is originally from Dublin, Ireland. She began her teaching career at NLCS UK in 2006 having previously worked in Arts Administration. Her qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Dance and Sport Science from the University of Liverpool, a Professional Diploma from Trinity Laban and a PGCE from the Royal Academy of Dance. As a founding member of NLCS Jeju, she was the Housemistress of Geomun House for 8 years as well as Head of the Dance Department.

Drew Thomas graduated from Swansea University with First Class Honours in History where he later achieved his Masters with distinction in the same subject focusing on cultural and social themes and the construction of national and regional identities. Prior to arriving in Jeju Drew has worked for several years in Singapore and more recently spent time teaching in the UAE where he was also Head of Year. He loves traveling and exploring the countries he lives in with his wife and daughter.

Harry Thorrington, MA (Oxon) MA (Leuven) has lived in Canada, South Korea, Belgium and Bangladesh. He was a Music and ToK teacher at NLCS Jeju from 2013-2018 and is happy to be back this academic year; it's an inspiring and ambitious community! He left Korea to successfully pursue a master's degree in Belgium, then went to Bangladesh to study the UN Sustainable Development Goals on behalf of the Association of Commonwealth Universities at the University of Dhaka.

Jodie has a BA (Hons) in Geography and Education Studies (Bishop Grosseteste University College, Lincoln) and a PGCE from the University of Nottingham. She is also currently studying her MA in Education from the University of Nottingham to further her education pedagogy. Her last post was as the Deputy Head of Secondary at the British School Yangon in Myanmar. In this role she led the pastoral and safeguarding teams within the Secondary School. She enjoys exploring the beautiful island of Jeju with her family.

James is from Sheffield in the UK where he studied a BSc in Computer Science and then completed his teacher training (PGCE). He taught in the UK for eight years where he was the head of Computer Science and Information Communications Technology as well as subject leader at a high achieving catholic school in Sheffield. James moved to the NLCS Jeju as a Computer Science teacher in 2016.

James has a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design, Film and Photography from Hull School of Art. His teaching qualification is from the University of Sunderland and he has most recently been working for Island School in Hong Kong. His previous award-winning career in the creative arts included the UK Arts Council Show of the Year and the Cannes Lion for Best International Short Film. He was part of the management team that led R/GA London to win Campaign's Global Digital Innovation Agency of the Year for four years in a row. James is a keen cyclist. He combines this passion with his support of Education for All by riding in the annual Marrakech - Atlas Etape in support of the charity.

Joshua has a Bsc (Hons) Mathematics from the University of Bristol and PGCE from the University of Canterbury. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Joshua worked as a Lead Practitioner in a school in the UK. He has been teaching Maths for over 11 years. Joshua enjoys all sports but is an avid football fan both playing and watching his home team Spurs.

David has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a PGCE from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Prior to joining the School he was Head of Grade 12 English at a school in South Africa. David has a passion for reading and bird watching, but also spends many hours building Lego, brewing coffee, and lamenting the bad luck of the South African cricket team. He lives on Jeju with his wife. He enjoys helping students grow their love for English (with all its maddening peculiarities) and a desire to become life-long learners and avid story tellers.

April has a Bachelor of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Secondary) both from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Prior to joining the School she taught at a school in Mexico. April really enjoys Crossfit, exploring the outdoors with her two dogs, drinking coffee and eating new and exciting foods. She lives on Jeju with her husband and two dogs. She is really looking forward to working with the staff and students, particularly those in Jeoji house.

Sam has a BSc Mathematics from the University of Otago and a Graduate Diploma Teaching and Learning from the University of Canterbury. Prior to joining the School, Sam taught at a school in Mexico and before that, was a Boarding House Master in Malaysia. Sam enjoys exercising and playing with his 2 dogs, watching and playing cricket and exploring the outdoors. He lives on Jeju with his wife. He enjoys worksing with the wonderful and ambitious students and staff at NLCS Jeju.

Adam Yates has a Degree in Secondary Science Education with a specialism in Biology from the University of Lancaster and has completed a Diploma in SEND. Having taught for 17 years, Mr Yates has experienced teaching in a variety of settings including British international boarding schools in Malaysia and China. Mr Yates is accompanied by his Wife Esther Yates and has a son and granddaughter living in the North East of England. Having a keen professional interest in student well-being and character education.

Li Rong moved from Singapore to Jeju where she has been teaching for 6 years since 2014. She graduated from Nanjing University in China and obtained a Master's degree in Chinese Language and Literature. Before her appointment as a reporter for five years at the Tianjin Evening News, she engaged with education for many years, teaching at Tianjin University of Science & Technology for two years from 1982 to 1984. Li Rong is an experienced Chinese first language and foreign language teacher with nearly 20 years experience in Singapore. Li Rong loves adventure and enjoys travel during her free time. She has traveled around the world and visited more than 20 countries. Li Rong's husband is a musician and a cellist. They have a daughter and a son; their daughter is a Psychologist and their son has been awarded a music scholarship to study at the University of Melbourne in Australia.

Benjamin recently completed an honours degree in fine art from Arts University Bournemouth and an overseas programme studying oriental painting and Korean art history at Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea. Ben loves crocheting and travelling with friends, he is excited to return to the island and experience NLCS Jeju.

Kerrie is from the UK and has a BA (joint honors) in French and History. After completing a PGCE in primary education, she taught in the UK for ten years before moving to Jeju in 2011 as a junior school teacher and a house mistress. She recently took a sabbatical year in the UK with her two sons and returns to NLCS Jeju as a junior school music teacher and assistant house mistress. In her free time she loves spending time outdoors.

Born in Seoul and raised in China, Seoyeon has a BSc in Applied Medical Sciences from UCL. After returning to Seoul, she gained experience in tutoring, consulting, and marketing. Seoyeon enjoys watching mystery films and traveling to tropical destinations. With Jeju Island being one of them, she is excited to explore all that the island has to offer, especially hoping to learn surfing one day. Seoyeon is thrilled to join NLCS Jeju and aspires to pursue a career in teaching biology in the near future.

Lorence holds a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education from Kenyatta University and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Curriculum Development at KCA University. An accomplished author, Lorence has published two books on sports officiating and sleep science. Passionate about sports, he actively participates in various athletic activities. In his leisure time, he enjoys listening to soul music while savoring a cup of hot tea. Lorence is delighted to join NLCS and share his passion for sports and Geography.

Dasol graduated from Jeju National University with a degree in Korean Language Education. Currently, Dasol is pursuing a Master's degree in Global Education at the Graduate School of Jeju National University. Additionally, Dasol holds both MYP and DP IB Educator Certificates, certified by the International Baccalaureate organization. Dasol has three years of experience working as a Korean language teacher in an international school in Korea.

Natalia Davies has a BA Hons in Drama and Theatre Studies and PGCE from Aberystwyth University in Wales. With a passion for both Applied Theatre and Musical Theatre, Natalia has continually sought to integrate these elements into her teaching practice. She also thoroughly enjoying the devising process in creating theatre. Although Natalia is 7 years into her teaching profession, NLCS Jeju marks her first international post. She is excited about the new chapter that is ahead, she is looking forward to contributing and growing within the ambitious, creative, and dedicated community.

Ekim graduated from the University of Kent with a degree in Politics and International Relations. He has experience in the field of education, including working as a tutor and academic assistant. In these roles, he supported students in their academic pursuits and contributed to the development of educational materials. Additionally, Ekim has been involved in organizing educational conferences. With a passion for fostering a positive learning environment and supporting student growth, Ekim is excited to join NLCS Jeju as a Graduate Assistant. Outside of work, Ekim enjoys spending time in nature and learning about new cultures and countries.

Sarah graduated from the University of St Mark and St John with a 1st class BEd Hon in Secondary Physical Education with QTS. She then taught in the UK before moving to Qatar, where she worked in two British international schools as Head of Year and Head of PE. She most recently taught Junior PE in Oman. Sarah is enthusiastic about sport, competing in water polo for her county and in hockey, swimming and volleyball for her university. She also enjoys playing netball and participating in challenging open water swims, like the Asia to Europe crossing.

Emma has a Bachelors of Education with a specialisation in Social Studies and English as a Second Language from the University of North Texas, through which she gained her US teaching qualification. She has travelled extensively and has lived in England, America, and South Korea where she attended Korea University as an exchange student. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Emma has spent the past 7 years working with students as a teacher, swim coach, teaching assistant, and most recently as a boarding assistant in a sixth form boarding house at a school in England. She is excited to join the school community and explore Jeju.

Triton has a PGCE in Education from the University of Sunderland and a BMus (Summa cum laude) in Music Production and Engineering from Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, USA. He has worked as a Music Teacher in international schools in Thailand and Japan. In his free time, he produces music for independent artists and also works on his own compositions. He also enjoys sports, particularly badminton and basketball, and is keen to explore the natural wonders of Jeju Island.

Frances Brown has a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Manchester. After graduating, Frances has been a graduate assistant in the UK. Frances enjoys staying active and exploring new places.

Victor is from Mexico and holds an MSc in Engineering and a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Tec de Monterrey, one of the top universities in Latin America. He is a firm believer that education is the cornerstone of progress, which fuels his love for teaching and tutoring. With his experience as a science and computing teacher, Victor is more than excited to bring his enthusiasm and energy to the NLCS Jeju staff in the upcoming school year as graduate assistant. He enjoys sports, board games and has a passion for learning about new cultures.

Gaspar has a BSc and MSc in Sports and Physical Education from Madrid Technical University. He is returning to Jeju to teach Academic PE after working in Japan for two years as Data Manager. Gaspar enjoys nature and physical activities. He looks forward to cycling and walking his dogs on Jeju Island once again. He loves sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for Sports to help pupils develop their own talent and understanding on the subject from a scientific point of view.

Youngshin started her career working in the international office of a university and later moved on to teach at international schools. She teaches Korean as a Second Language and is passionate about sharing Korean culture and language with her students. She has lived in Korea, the United States, and India and has been teaching Korean as a Second Language for the past six years. She loves exploring new places, which often leads her to travel and try out new recipes in her cooking. This passion for travel and cooking adds a unique and global touch to her teaching.

Hiroshi, known by most as Ishi, got his BBA in Management and International Business from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Including his time in Oahu, growing up in the Philippines, and participating in a study abroad program in Copenhagen, he has been living on islands his entire life. He previously worked in a logistics company and a start-up recruitment firm before finally joining NLCS. Ishi enjoys travelling, loves history, and adores his pet cat. He also looks forward to contributing to the community outreach programmes of the school

Myles has a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from SOAS University, London. A former member of the National Youth Choir of GB, a former chorister of the prestigious York Minster Cathedral Choir and a Music Scholar of Ampleforth Abbey and College as well as having attended Leeds Conservatoire for four years, music education and appreciation has been of great importance and influence. Myles enjoys jazz, world cinema and cuisines. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Myles has enjoyed travelling and experiencing new cultures. Having had personal experience of the independent school sector, Myles understands first hand about seizing opportunities and supporting young people through their musical journey.

Mr. Monaghan taught at Mill Hill School in North London for 17 years, where he was a teacher of Geography and for ten years, a housemaster. In 2011 he moved to Jeju to set up North London Collegiate’s first international school. He was Director of Boarding and then Vice Principal (Teaching and Learning). In 2015 he moved to the Middle East, where he was Head of Secondary at Sharjah English School and then founding Vice Principal (Academic) at NLCS Dubai. In 2019 he became Principal of NLCS Dubai. In 2023 he took up a position in the United States, looking at the private school market and looking at possibilities of a new international school. He also spent time looking at the US college admissions processes. In February 2024 he accepted the position as Principal of NLCS Jeju, returning to the school he helped to set up. He is a passionate teacher of Geography and specialises in Physical Geography, particularly meteorology and climatology. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Mandy and his three children and enjoys swimming and cycling. His two youngest children were both students at NLCS Jeju in the founding years. Two of his children are now teachers and one works in the Arts. Mr. Monaghan is passionate about creating a high performing school in which students can aspire and be ambitious, and enjoy waking up and being excited about coming to school each day.

Jonah earned a BA (Hons) in Digital Photography with a minor in Graphic Design from Southern New Hampshire University. His photographic exploration focused primarily on fine art and abstract imagery. He played in professional football academies before making a full switch to futsal at age 17. He represented the United States Futsal National Team at youth levels and trained with futsal clubs in the US, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, and Japan. Jonah has experience as a futsal coach and would love to expand the popularity of the game, both as a standalone sport and to increase players' technical and creative abilities in football. Outside of photography and futsal, he loves to spend as much time as possible skateboarding.

Rebecca is a 2024 graduate of the University of Limerick in Ireland, receiving an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Linguistics with TESOL. Rebecca has a passion for English literature, film and music, and enjoys spending her free time hiking in the Irish countryside. Rebecca has worked as an assistant for a youth center with pupils from disadvantaged areas, and as an activity leader in summer schools for international students. She is excited to meet the staff and students of NLCS Jeju and looks forward to exploring the island!

Growing up in five different countries overseas, Dr. Kim is an international and multicultural individual who is fluent in both English and Korean. She is an academic and professional with a diverse educational background and extensive experience. She holds a BA in French Language and Literature with a minor in English Language and Literature from Korea University, an MS in Clothing and Textiles from Seoul National University, a PhD in Clothing and Textiles from the same institution, and an MEd in Education from Torch Trinity University, where she graduated with Highest Honors. Dr. Kim has a rich professional history, having worked in marketing within the corporate sector and successfully running her own business for seven years. She also has six years of experience in international schools and eight years as a college professor, and is especially dedicated to fostering strong community ties and enhancing the educational landscape.

Jovanna has a Bachelor of Creative Media Production from Massey University, New Zealand, majoring in Film and Television Production and minoring in Photography and Web Development. She interned at Pow Studios a sound production studio and worked on two credited feature films. Jovanna also interned at Swarm Strategy as a producer and audio recorder for many advertisements. With four years of teaching experience, she has taught Spanish, ESL, and Digital Technology. Jovanna loves playing sports like netball, basketball, volleyball, and many more. She also enjoys travelling and learning about different cultures.

Andrew has an MSc in Sound Design and a BMus (Hons) in Music from the University of Edinburgh. He previously studied for five years on a music scholarship at Eton College and was a boyhood chorister at Westminster Abbey. Andrew is a passionate composer and loves creating music for all types of media. In his spare time, he enjoys film, theatre and sport, and is an avid football goalkeeper.

Katie joins NLCS Jeju as the head of Inclusion and Wellbeing after 8 years as a SENDCo at a secondary school in the North West of England. Katie’s foundations in education are as an English teacher; she has a BA in English Literature from York St. John University and her PGCE is in English and Drama from Edge Hill University. Having spent her early career as an English teacher, it was clear that her passion was in supporting students with additional needs and she studied for her Level 7 qualification in Access Arrangements, closely followed by her NASENCo qualification awarded by the University of Kent. Katie has dedicated the majority of her career to supporting students no matter their barriers or backgrounds to thrive in education, and she is excited to be joining an incredible inclusion team at NLCS Jeju. Katie will be moving to the island with her husband, daughter and son, all of whom are looking forward to immersing themselves in Korean culture and exploring this beautiful island.

Melody is an NLCS Jeju alumnus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering from The University of Hong Kong. Melody has over 4 years of experience in teaching and tutoring, and she has given a summer lecture in Jeju University. As a returning alumnus, who has already spent a year as a Gap Assistant, Melody is a experienced Graduate Assistant full of love for NLCS Jeju. She enjoys garment making, going for a drive and spending time with her family. Melody’s favourite quote is “Harness energy, block bad".

James Caudle has a BSc, majoring in Psychology and Mathematics from the University of Adelaide and a DipEd from the University of Melbourne. He trained as a counsellor with the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors and is a member of the International School Counseling Association. He has been a Mathematics and Psychology teacher, a pastoral leader and a counsellor for over 20 years in Australia, Malaysia, China and Korea. Helping students find pathways to relief from suffering and finding ways to thrive has been a continuous driving purpose in his career as an educator. He served on the senior leadership team in China and fulfilled multiple roles as the Wellbeing Coordinator, Counsellor, Child Protection Officer and Head of Mathematics. He first moved to Jeju in 2015, with his wife, Faye, who teaches Chinese literature. Their favourite place on Jeju is Sagye. James enjoys the outdoors and exploring the island by bicycle. He looks forward to making a positive contribution at NLCS to the safety and wellbeing of students, teachers and to the broader community.

Charlie has a BA Hons Sport Coaching and Physical Education degree from the University of St Mark and St John. He attended NLCS Jeju as a student, returned as a Gap Assistant, prior to completing his degree, and has now returned again as a Graduate Assistant. He is an avid sports fanatic with a distinct passion for football and also enjoys music and film.

Daniel Day has a History & Politics degree from the University of Central Lancashire and has an International Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Sheffield. Daniel has several years experience within Blackpool football club's centre of excellence and recently held the position of Graduate Assistant at NLCS whilst performing his teacher training in Physical Education. Daniel loves to promote students' well-being through physical activity and has found Jeju the perfect place to pursue his own interest within sport. Daniel has played a big part in the extra curricular program at NLCS, and has had the privilege of coaching the boys football teams in multiple competitions across the country.

Imogen has a Bachelor of Music in Pedagogy from TU Dublin Conservatoire. She has five years experience teaching and working with choirs, along with six years of international choral competition experience with Dublin Youth Chamber Choir and DYC Singers, with whom she also worked as a Music Assistant and Alto Mentor. She loves travelling, and has taught, competed and travelled all over Europe and Asia, learning and appreciating a host of different cultures and languages. Imogen has also taken inspiration from learning about her international students’ countries while working five years as a Boarding Supervisor at a school in Dublin. She is looking forward to working with the amazing music students and staff at NLCS Jeju this year.

Lauren has a BSc Geography from the University of Plymouth and a Masters degree in TESOL from Swansea University. After realising her passion for teaching, she obtained a QTS as a Primary Education and ESL teacher. Lauren has taught primary school children in Korea since 2017, most recently teaching Year 1 and Year 3 at a private school in Seoul. She enjoys encouraging and supporting children to become creative, curious, and confident young people. Lauren lives in Jeju with her family and is excited to get outdoors and experience all Jeju has to offer. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking and drawing, and spending time with her family.

Susan is from Australia and has resided in Korea for many years. She has worked in academics for over twenty years and this is her third international school (Brunei, Malaysia). Susan has vast experience in a diverse range of curricula ranging from junior to higher education. Susan holds a Postgraduate qualification in Applied Linguistics, Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Education, Associate Diploma of Applied Science, Advanced Diploma of Business Management, Diploma of Financial Planning and qualifications in TESOL and Training and Assessment. She retains full registration with the Queensland Teachers College in Australia. Susan has taught extensively in language acquisition, business management and sciences along with representation on several corporate Boards in Australia. At Susan’s previous international school, she held the position of Head of English and English as an Additional Language.

Joon holds a CPA from the US, prior to moving to Jeju he worked at a food manufacturing company in Seoul. Joon enjoys mountain climbing and playing golf. He likes the fantastic natural environment of Jeju.

Koray has a BSc (Hons) Chemistry from the University of Kent and has recently completed an MSc Chemistry. Koray enjoys being active, taking part in sporting events, and exploring the Far-East. He has a keen interest in organic synthetic Chemistry as his research masters specialised in making sustainable batteries via vitamin sources, and he hopes to transfer these interests to the Senior School students and make Chemistry even more exciting for them.

Gwangho is from Korea. After earning his BEd in Junior Education, Gwangho started his teaching career at KIS, Jeju. Gwangho joined NLCS Jeju in August 2014 as a Korean Language teacher in the Junior School. Previously, he has been the Assistant Housemaster of Harubang House and is now the school's Community and Service coordinator.

MA Counselling - Goldsmiths University London Louise has worked at NLCS Jeju since 2020. Prior to joining the School she worked as a Psychotherapist in Schools and Private Practice across London (UK). Louise enjoys playing tennis, walking, travelling and singing in the School choir. She loves living in Jeju because of the beautiful scenery, kind nature of the people and totally magical feel of the island. Louise has a particular interest in mindfulness and relaxation and she really enjoys sharing this with the students and staff to help care for their wellbeing. "I love working at NLCS Jeju because I find the students extremely engaged and responsive, in addition, my colleagues are committed and hardworking but also really fun to work alongside"

Luke has been awarded a first class Bachelor of Arts (honours) degree in Dance and has recently become the recipient of the Christophersen award from De Montfort University - Leicester, UK. Luke also has four years experience training on Trinity Laban's Centre for Advanced Training scheme, a dance conservatoire in London, UK. After completing a study abroad placement in New York, USA Luke is looking forward to joining NLCS, Jeju to experience culture, community, and to inspire young people, in particular men, to get involved in dance and consider it as a serious career option.

Warwick has a BA Psychology from a Korean university, prior to joining NLCS Jeju he worked as a HR Manager in a broadcasting company in Seoul. Warwick enjoys living in Jeju because all his family members are happy here - he loves fishing, his wife loves gardening and his daughter loves the nature of the island. He feels that the school aims to encourage all students to take risks and try something new, and he enjoy working with his team at NLCS Jeju, with taking risks and trying something new everyday!

Doug is from the UK. After earning a BSc in Pure Mathematics and Chemistry, he went on to gain an MSc degree in Operational Research. Following a few years in London as a Management Consultant, Doug's career path moved towards education and he completed his PGCE, specialising in teaching Mathematics. Doug started his career in education in the UK and then took his first international teaching position and has never looked back. Doug has now taught internationally for 15 years in Asia and for 3 years in Africa. Alongside teaching, Doug enjoys the outdoors, specifically walking and kayaking and loves leading the 'Beyond the Classroom' programme.

Kyung Soo graduated from Busan National University and Hansei University before embarking on further studies in Birmingham, England. Kyungsoo also trained and experienced a number of different aspecst of social work in counselling centers in Seoul and Kyunggi-do and currently enjoys working with our students and skilled counselling team.

Sophie Perry graduated from the University of Brighton with a BA (Hons) degree in Physical Education (QTS). Upon graduation, she worked in the South of England before venturing abroad to teach internationally. She worked in a British international school in Thailand and has held a variety of middle leadership positions, both academically and pastorally throughout her teaching career. Sophie is a keen sportswoman and was a professional footballer in England for Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea FC, she was a senior international for the Republic of Ireland and has played against some of the world's best players.

Glenn graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Education degree in PE. He has taught for twenty years in two Independent Schools in West Yorkshire, England as Head of PE and Head of Sport respectively. Before starting his teaching career, he played as a Professional Cricketer for Derbyshire County Cricket Club for four seasons and also spent time playing and coaching cricket in Brisbane, Australia and Cape Town, South Africa. During his teaching career, he has led a number of overseas sports tours and ski trips and is also qualified as a cricket coach and umpire, a rugby and football referee and coach and a ski instructor. He and his wife Sarah are looking forward to teaching in an International School and meeting both pupils and staff whilst experiencing a new culture and country.

Meg has a BA Degree in Media and Communications from the University of Liverpool. Since leaving university, Meg has worked at an after school club, and prior to that, built up 4 years of experience as a swimming teacher. Recreationally, Meg enjoys all kinds of sport, but mostly water polo and football. She also loves exploring new cultures, learning languages and meeting new people. She is excited to immerse herself in all the challenges NLCS Jeju has to offer.

Eszter has an Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity from KU Leuven, Palacky University, University of Limerick and Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. After completing her joint Masters degree, she gained her teaching qualification in Special Education Needs from the University of Jyväskylä and her Professional Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from UCSB. Prior to joining the School she was a SEN teacher in Finland and an ABA Tutor in Malta. Eszter is a lifelong learner, currently studying towards her PhD with a focus in Positive Behaviour Support. She enjoys travelling, hiking, watching movies and getting to know more about Korean culture.

Danny has a BA (Hons) degree in Sports Journalism and PGCE with PE Specialism from the University of Chester. He most recently held the position of whole school PE and Sport Science teacher at an international school in Central Asia and has worked overseas for the past eight years. He is looking forward to being a part of the extensive sporting programme at NLCS Jeju and meeting students and staff. Danny has a passion for health and fitness and various sports including football, tennis, golf and snowboarding. He is excited to explore Jeju island and experience Korean culture.

Daehyeok has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Physics. Prior to joining NLCS Jeju, Daehyeok worked at Jeju Bank and for JDC. Daehyeok was part of NLCS Jeju at its inception and contributed to its success for which he is very proud. He enjoys reading and travelling and loves living in Jeju.

Emma has an MSci degree in Applied Psychology (Clinical) from the University of Reading and completed a placement year as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner in the NHS in London. After graduating, she's been a Graduate Assistant in the Psychology and Emotional Guidance Counseling department at NLCS Jeju. With an interest in Marketing, she attended the University of the Arts London Summer School to enhance her graphic design skills this summer before returning as a Graduate Assistant in Marketing. She loves traveling to explore new cultures and try local foods, photography, and going on walks around the island. Emma is looking forward for the year ahead at NLCS Jeju and to discover more of Jeju and Asia.

Amy has a PGCE from the University of Nottingham, MA International Commerce from Seoul National University, MA International Relations from Peking University and a BA Chinese Studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Despite being new to teaching in international schools, she has substantial teaching experience of over five years in China, Korea, and Ethiopia. Amy aspires to advocate for, support and challenge neurodivergent students as a Learning Support Teacher, and to empower Sixth Form female boarding students to achieve their personal best and to develop the skills, knowledge and intellectual curiosity to prepare them for university life as an Assistant Boarding Mistress in Halla East. As reflected in her educational background, Amy is committed to lifelong learning and is excited to be completing her SENCO qualification and remaining abreast of best international practice in boarding provision and safeguarding to continue growing as an educator. In her free time, Amy enjoys travel, baking, fine dining, and binge watching Netflix. She holds a Korean passport, but as a truly global citizen, she has studied and worked abroad in the US, China, HK, Japan, Ethiopia, and Cambodia. Amy lives on Jeju with her husband who also works at NLCS Jeju and enjoys the fruits of her baking labor.
